Rotarian of the Year
Rotary Club of Ladner has recognized Peter Roaf as the club’s Rotarian of the Year for outstanding service to the club and to Rotary. Peter received the prestigious Paul Harris Fellow award from President Kerry-Lynne Findlay for accomplishments over the past year. Award honourees are individuals who meet high professional and personal standards set forth by Paul Harris, the founder of Rotary International, may have contributed more than US $1000 to The Rotary Foundation, for which Peter has been recognized five times in the past, or may be recognized by their club, as in this case, for extraordinary service above self.

Reach leader honoured for a lifetime of passionate community service
Executive Director of Reach Child and Youth Development Society, a non-profit organization that helps children with special needs reach their full potential, Renie D'Aquila, was recognized by the Rotary Club of Ladner with a prestigious Paul Harris Fellow Award for helping people in the community with developmental disabilities during most of her working life.
ARES: connecting to knowledge without internet so “no child left behind” in Kenya
Remote rural schools often have limited access to books, paper and writing materials, as well as intermittent power and no internet access. ARES -- African Ruggedized Education System -- is a Delta and region Rotary solution for the problem of education in rural communities with minimal resources in Kenya and eventually the world.
Employment for Persons with Disabilities
Next year over six hundred youth with developmental disabilities will be transitioning out of high school across BC to their adult lives. The Delta Community Living Society's youth employment runs the spring/summer LEAP (Leading employment and achieving possibilities) project in partnership with Delta School District to support young adults who are transitioning from school to work. The program provides Peer Mentoring, support frame, and work with formal training, for interested community member volunteers. The Society also works with Rotary at Work BC, funded by the Vancouver Foundation and Community Living British Columbia.
