Mike McGovern joined Rotary in 1986 as a member of the Rotary Club of South Portland-Cape Elizabeth, Maine, USA. He has served as district governor, international training leader, RI committee member and chair, trustee, and vice-chair of the Rotary Foundation, and Vice President of Rotary International.  

Mike is the Chair of the International PolioPlus Committee, which directs all regional and international PolioPlus committees, coordinates all PolioPlus elements, and develops policies and strategies to achieve polio eradication.  The committee’s responsibilities include allocation of US$150 million annually for polio eradication.

Mike is also the International Chair of the Rotary Leadership Institute. Mike serves on the board of PPH National Insurance Company, a subsidiary of Rotary International providing liability insurance coverage to Rotary clubs in the United States.  He is a Major Donor to the Rotary Foundation and a recipient of the Rotary Foundation’s Citation for Meritorious Service and Distinguished Service Award.
