The Rotary Club of Durand welcomes you to Zehnder’s of Frankenmuth for the 2018 Annual District Conference.  Did you know that Frankenmuth has 3 nicknames?  It is known as, "Little Bavaria," "Muth," and "The Muth."  It is a city that celebrates its German heritage and that equates to fine food (chicken), shopping, the world’s largest Christmas Store, and just plain fun, fun, fun.
The theme for the conference this year is “Business, Training, Education, & Support” and we hope that when you leave, you will have a taste for all.  Aside from the District Training Assembly held Saturday morning from 9:00am to 12:00am, for club officers and members, we are bringing in speakers to lead us in a discussion of Economic Growth & Environmental Responsibility, Time Management, Peace: Humanity’s New Art, Global Grants, Strategic Plan, and the SCORE organization.
Our clubs will be presenting success stories on Membership, Interact/Rotaract, Friendship Exchange, CMU medical program and scholarships in Saginaw, and 3 clubs will discuss their district grant projects.
Also, for Friday and Saturday our keynote speakers are Jim Goodhart, Retired DEQ, to give us an overview of Michigan’s resource-based industries and John Schultes, New Steel International CEO, to speak on the world’s most advanced Energy and Steel Plant.
Of course, from the PDG’s luncheon on Friday to the closing of  the conference Saturday evening, we have the extreme pleasure of having PDG Arthur Zietler, District 5930 and his wife, Carol, representing International President Ian Riseley with us.   They are from Corpus Christi, Texas.  Arthur will be bringing us the president’s message.
This will be a time for reflection of our district’s successes and plans for the future, and how we as a district are “Making A Difference” not only in our communities but also the world.    We hope we have fulfilled the promise of an inspirational, motivating, educational conference and afforded the opportunities for Rotarians to develop many new friendships.
Thank you for the honor of serving you this past year!
Yours in Rotary,
Pat Post
