Adult Transition Program

I am Shashi, working as Job Training Technician in ESUHSD from past 4 years. Technically this is an adult transition program  for the students who graduate  from regular school and enroll in this program.

We give them training in various fields like life skills. Teach them apartment skills like cooking, dish washing, laundry, sweeping, moping, wiping, bedmaking, make them independent. Teach them how to ride public transportation, cross roads, walking on the streets, push the stop request. I take them to job sites teach them the jobs which are assigned to us like organizing the shelves, sorting the sizes, sorting by sex, helping the consumers, getting carts. I make them independent so the parents will not feel any burden once they graduate because in a 4 years period they turned out to be independent in most of the day to day chores. I am very glad seeing my students changing a lot. After a point we allow them to go independently to use the public transportation. But we follow them in our vehicles to make sure they are safe. It’s mobility training.
