Guest Speaker: Joyce Mathey

As the founders and volunteers who helped bring the Pay it Forward House into being celebrate 10 years of operations, one former guest repaid them...with the production of a video, telling potential guests what it's all about.

 

PIFH Executive Director Joyce Mathey says the husband of one guest had stayed there for some time, finding relief after dealing with his wife's illness and the necessary trips to multiple medical facilities.  After his wife passed away, he offered to produce the video as a thank-you to the volunteers...and in tribute to her memory.

 

Pay it Forward House provides respite services for the families and loved ones of patients at nearby Kindred Hospital; the House provides rooms and a home-like atmosphere for minimal cost, at a time when families are usually strapped for funds and burned out from dealing with the ailment which brought their loved one here.  The House maintains three rooms under its own roof, plus two ADA-accessible ones in the hospital; it also has an agreement with the Jane Fargo Hotel, covering overflow guests.
