2021 Hula for Loota
Paul Stromborg checks in with Tim Neubert and Eric Jones for Hula for Loota at Chapel in the Pines.
This year's Hula for Loota featured a pig roast. Member Riley Oncken later ate one of this pig's eyes to raise $250 for the club's charitable giving programs.
Rotarians and their friends and family members fill the room at Chapel in the Pines, decked out in a colorful Hawaiian theme. HUGE thanks to venue host Jeff Peterson and his team!
Elvis (Jeorge Gable Holmes) entertains long-time past Hula organizer Paul Michel and his wife.
Much to Pat Shafer's surprise, Elvis takes a seat on his lap (as Pat's wife Mary looks on).
An impromptu dance routine with Mark Spiegelhoff, Bob Brown, Elvis, and Eric Jones.
Eric and Michelle Jones track the Hula drawdown board and trivia game while Jeff Keicher helps pass out consolation prizes.
The drawdown board reflects hope for some ticket holders, but devastation for others.
The “4-Way Bets” trivia team members claim their game-winning prizes.
Troy Oates, Fred Peltz, and Michael DeVito, Sr., are the last active ticket-holders in the drawdown and agree to split the $3,000 winning pot.
Sycamore Rotarians donated $328.22 in change (as well as some paper money) during Wednesday's meeting, which is fantastic...but we can do better! So bring your containers of loose change to the JULY 21 meeting to support the Sycamore Rotary's EarlyAct and Interact Clubs!

Thanks so much!

The World Series of Giving: PLAY BALL!
Here we are at the beginning of a new Rotary year and it promises to be an exciting one! The world is opening up and clubs are once again meeting in person. And with the start of the year, we are kicking off the World Series of Giving competition to support The Rotary Foundation.

We’ve been sending information on this competition to club Presidents and Foundation Chairs over the last month. The district is divided into 5 divisions based on each Assistant Governor’s territory.

The 5 divisions are as follows:

The Northeast Division - Areas 1 and 2 clubs: Loves Park, Rockford, Rockford East, Rockton-Roscoe, Pecatonica - AG Margaret Larson, and Belvidere, Sycamore, DeKalb, and Kishwaukee Sunrise - AG Sue Emberson.

The Mid-Central Division - Areas 3 and 4 clubs: Oregon, Rochelle, Mendota and Byron - AG Tom Brooks, and Dixon, Sterling, Rock Falls, Twin Cities Sunrise and Walnut - AG Allen Przysucha.

The South-Central Division - Areas 5 and 6 clubs: Sandwich, Plano, Marseilles, Ottawa Noon and Ottawa Sunrise - AG Jane Goetz, and LaSalle, Peru, Putnam County and Illinois Valley Sunrise - AG J. Burt.

The West-Central Division - Areas 7 and 9 clubs: Streator, Toluca, Henry, Wenona, Geneseo Morrison, Princeton and River Cities - DG David Bills is covering these clubs.

The Western Division - Areas 8 and 10 clubs: East Moline/Silvis, Moline, Quad Cities, Rock Island, and Twin Rivers - AG Gary Rowe, and Freeport, Galena, Savanna and Mount Carroll - AG Andy Willis.

Scoring is ranked by aggregate per capita giving to the Annual Fund and PolioPlus throughout the year.

Monthly updates on team rankings will be posted on the district website and Facebook page as well as additional communications to the clubs.

The winning club in each division receives a specially made Louisville Slugger bat. The overall winning club receives an appropriate reward to be determined.

We know that as Rotarians we recognize the importance of giving to The Rotary Foundation. The Foundation is the lifeblood of our organization. It is serious business, but we also know that we can have fun while doing serious things. Clubs prove that over and over in their ongoing work in their communities. This year our theme is Serve to Change Lives. Let’s have fun while we do!

Request: Collect Vendor Cards at Art Fairs
Hello fellow Rotarians,

Below is a list of art fairs in the northern Illinois area that I found for the next few months.  There are probably more, but this is a start. If you are looking for a good time, art fairs are usually a lot of fun.  If you go, please collect business cards from vendors and any literature about the event.  Get them to me and we can create a data base of vendors for our future event.  Remember, no database, no event.  Let's all get behind this and have some fun.  Pick a fair and a couple of other Rotarians and make a fun day of it.
