The end of July gave the Sycamore Rotary Club a chance to plan out the upcoming year; the annual Club Assembly on July 25th saw the Club split up into committees, which gave Rotarians an opportunity to see what types of projects are going on and to do something of direct interest to them.

Club President Ray Dembinski says revised committee sheets will be distributed during the month of August; Rotarians will be able to sign up for specific committees and projects, much like we've done in the past.  Feel free to sign up for one or more of these activities; please ask the appropriate committee chair if you have any questions.

The imminent departure of Brian Adams from the Rotary Club means that several positions will have to be filled:

-- Eric Jones will be taking over as the Public Image Director; he will serve as webmaster, manager of the Facebook page and editor of The Spoke.
-- Volunteers are being sought to chair the Operation Warm and Rotarians at Work Days projects
-- Sergeant-at-Arms responsibilities will be handed over to the monthly program committees; they will provide 1 or 2 members to assist with the following tasks:
Set up the flag and club banner(s).
Place and open the Badge Box on the front table.
Place laminated cards on member tables.
Set up the podium, hook up speaker and microphone, set up screen and media cart with projector.
Set up the Rotary Club meeting display board by parking lot entrance.

The committee members will take down and store all these items at the conclusion of the meeting.  Lavarre Uhlken and his wife Connie are normally on hand before and afterwards; and Brian will be available through the end of August, to help with setting up the routine.

There are 4 months (August, October, January, and May) that have 5 Wednesdays in them.  Program committees for these months have the option to schedule a fifth presentation or request that the 5th week be used as either a social event or a make up meeting.  Committees will need to inform The Spoke editor (Eric) of your choice when you submit your monthly program list to him. Informing your club president would be prudent.

Your Club Runner profile sheet will be available at meetings for the next few weeks.  We would like you to complete an initial one or edit an existing copy and submit it to Sally Bruch.
