Guest Speaker: Paul Stromborg

 

The Rotary Foundation is at the heart of Rotary's efforts to raise money for use in projects around the world, and back here in District 6420; and as the Sycamore Rotary Club's Foundation chair, he urges all Rotarians -- especially our newer members -- to get involved with supporting the Foundation on an ongoing basis.

 

Paul outlined our efforts to help Rotary Clubs all over the world through the Foundation; projects dealing with literacy, education, sanitation, health, End Polio Now and other initiatives are funded through the Foundation.  The monies collected are held for three years, with 50% going to international projects and the other 50% returning to our District for use in grants.  For example, a TRF grant through District 6420 is helping to fund the installation of a new warning siren in Fairdale.

 

For each $1,000 donated to The Rotary Foundation, members earn a Paul Harris Fellowship; the more you donate, the higher your level...and these can also be presented to others of your choosing.  You can track your Foundation level through the Rotary International website.

 

During the meeting, Jim Stoddard was recognized as a Major Donor for his ongoing support of The Rotary Foundation through his years with our club.
