District Governor Jim Nelson says the Sycamore Rotary Club is a leader in District 6420; not only does the club have a brace of past District Governors, but it's second overall in per capita giving and is active in recruiting.

The annual District Governor's visit included discussion by Nelson on the subject of End Polio Now; only two countries -- Afghanistan, and Pakistan -- remain polio endemic, with just a handful of people contracting it in the past year.  He says Rotary's ongoing effort to wipe out polio is nearly at an end, but support from its clubs and membership is still required.

He also addressed recruiting efforts, noting that membership district-wide has gone up for the first time in years.  Rotary is making itself more accessible to potential members, with less stringent requirements and more flexible meeting times.

And he says Sycamore is one of the district leaders in donations to The Rotary Foundation, noting that over half of its members are Paul Harris Fellows...and about three-fourths participate in Every Rotarian Every Year.
