June 19, 1902 – Baseball’s “Iron Horse”, Lou Gehrig, is born in New York City. He played in 2,130 consecutive games and seven World Series for the Yankees only to die at age 37 from the degenerative muscle disease that bears his name.
June 20, 1924 – American military hero Audie Murphy is born in Kingston, Texas. He was the most decorated American soldier of World War II, awarded 37 medals including the Medal of honor. After the war he became an actor making 45 films.
June 21, 1982 – Britain’s Prince William is born in London to Princess Diana and Prince Charles, becoming second in line for the British throne.
