The club welcomed Steve Johnson, Diana’s husband and the first spouse to join Rotary under the new rules for dues for spouses.  Steve talked about how he and Diana met (they won a disco dance contest and went to Las Vegas).  Then he presented his classification talk about his career as a pharmacist and how he learned many things he still uses from Stu Smith.  He talked about the different types or tiers of prescription drugs and how the co-pays can change frequently due to negotiations by pharmacy benefit mangagers (PBM’s).  He felt the negotiations by the PBM’s are part of the reason the individual pharmacies have trouble competing with the larger stores.  That, and the fact that sometimes they’re forced to wait as long as eight months for payments from the state.  All in all, Steve said things have changed a fair amount from the days when they used typewriters instead of computers.  And, he pointed out that now he is able to give flu shots.  Thanks, Steve, for becoming a new Rotarian and sharing your classification talk with us.
