We were visited by Beverly Broyles, Director of Communication & Development at Keep Northern Illinois Beautiful. Their mission is to improve our environment through education, public awareness and community involvement. If you go to their website you can see what, how & when they recycle. For example, they have Christmas tree recycling with mulch available, they have a shred-it day and they also partner with Goodwill for a Spring & Fall clothing drive. Beverly says no clothing ends up in a landfill. It can be used for rags, carpet insulation and so on. They can repair or sell cell phones and the money raised is provided to veterans for calling cards. Environmental education is very important to them and they have a program for K-12 (she says Milwaukee has an excellent program). Thank you, Beverly, for helping us know more about KNIB.
