IT'S OFFICIAL

ROTARACT CLUB OF CARROLL UNIVERSITY

At our meeting on September 10, 2018, Past President Mary Baer presented the Certificate of Organization to the Rotaract Club of Carroll University.  Accepting the certificate on behalf of the club was President Nicole Ramirez and Vice President  Nicole Canlas.

Rotaract clubs bring together people ages 18-30 to exchange ideas with leaders in the community, develop leadership and professional skills, and have fun through service.  In communities worldwide, Rotary and Rotaract members work side by side to take action through service.

We look forward to having that young energy help us out with some of our upcoming projects - and they will appreciate our experience and support!

RAFFLE TIME FOR POLIO PLUS

SUPPORT POLIOPLUS

On Monday, June 17, we will be holding our monthly raffle for PolioPlus.  Thank you to Dan Gehring for supplying our raffle items that day.  All proceeds will go towards RI's PolioPlus program.  Tickets are $1 ea or 6 for $5.

What is PolioPlus?  Eradicating the world of polio is Rotary International's #1 goal.  Rotary members have played a key role in bringing the world to the brink of polio eradication. Our efforts have ended polio in 122 countries, reducing the number of polio cases by 99.9% since our program started in 1985.  Our club's goal this year is to contribute $1,500 towards this goal.  You support our efforts by purchasing raffle tickets.  Please purchase a couple of tickets and help save lives.

The club officers and board of directors has been supplying/donating our raffle items for the past 2 years.  Beginning with our July raffle, we will be asking our club members to make donations.  We need 2 items per month.  Please sign up on the clipboard at a Monday meeting or email me at ckalscheuer@wi.rr.com.  Thank you in advance for your generosity.

DID YOU KNOW?

WE PROUDLY SUPPORT

The Waukesha County Business Alliance:
As a member of the Waukesha County Business Alliance, the Waukesha Rotary Club gets access to a robust group of business leaders. The Alliance has 1,200+ members in its organization, representing 75,000+ employees in the region. We can designate officers to attend some of the networking events. As a non-profit, we get to attend a few designated programs for free. This is a great way for us to network with business leaders in the community. Our club also gets the opportunity to run two free AllianceMarketplace ads every year. We can promote any of our club events in this publication (i.e. service projects, Blues Fest, Pancake Breakfast, etc.)

International Fellowship of Scouting Rotarians:  The International Fellowship of Scouting Rotarians (IFSR) is one of more than ninety Rotary Fellowship and Action Groups established to bring together Rotarians with similar interests from around the world. It is made up of Rotarians who are or were Scouters or members of the Worldwide Scouting/Guiding Movement.  We have several members who belong to this fellowship, who encourage and foster the ideal of service by Rotarians to promote the growth and development of the Scout movement.

THANK YOU

YOUR KINDNESS IS GREATLY APPRECIATED

I just want to take up a little space here to thank everyone for their cards, emails, kind words of support and memorials made on behalf of my brother, Mike.  A special thank you for the donation made to Fisher House by the club.  Mike was a veteran of the US Air Force and served as a Milwaukee Police Officer for 25 years.  Although he was not a Rotarian, he sure knew the meaning of "Service Above Self."  He would be happy to know that his life lived in service to others is being continued in his name.    Thank you again for everything!!!     ~ Colleen

WORLD AFFAIRS SEMINAR 2019
The Promise & Perils of Social Media

Saturday, June 22, 2019 – Friday, June 28, 2019

At WAS 2019, they will be considering social media’s impact from many points of view, engaging in relevant off-site experiences to stimulate discussion, collaborating with other delegates from around the world to define social media issues and challenges in an atmosphere of respect, trust and collaboration, and discovering how using social media can make the changing world a better, safer place for ethical, respectful dialogue and engagement.

We are proud to once again donate 4 scholarships to this very worthy event.  For more information on WAS (World Affairs Seminar) please visit their website at https://worldaffairsseminar.org/

The premier “Rotary” event will be a Rotary meeting in the Student Center Board Room at Carroll University at noon on June 27th.  If you wish to eat lunch with the students that day you should arrive 45 minutes early – lunch will be in the cafeteria and there is a $15.00 charge (No charge for the Rotary meeting, however – just lunch if you choose to indulge…).  Following the Rotary meeting the Delegates will present their Capstone projects in the afternoon as sort of a “project fair” environment.  You’re welcome to stay for that.  You will receive a club makeup should you choose to attend this meeting.  If you are a new member looking for a club makeup, this would count for that as well.
