PREPARING TO CELEBRATE OUR 100TH ANNIVERSARY
Our club service committee, community service committee, and our board of directors is working on a plan to have some fun with our centenary anniversary. At this time, we are working on three different celebrations:
- A celebration dinner to be held in fall.
- A family picnic in the park on the Saturday of BluesFest.
- A special community project to commemorate this special anniversary.
We are encouraging all members to participate in the planning and organization of these activities. It is an honor to be a member of the Waukesha Rotary Club during this extraordinary year. The planning needs to begin now. Please email Colleen at mail@waukesharotary.org to volunteer to help plan any one of the above celebrations.
PANCAKE FESTIVAL 2021 IS ON!
The date is set for May 1, 2021. Although it will look a little different this year, the tradition goes on! We will be working with Pancakes on the Go - a drive through pancake breakfast. Although we will not need as many volunteers at the actual breakfast, we do need everyone's help and participation. The pancake committee is currently working on sponsorships. If you know of anyone willing to sponsor our event this year, please contact Lori Kasun. We will also need all of you to sell pancake tickets. As President Ken would say, "Rotary does good work - but it needs money to do that!" You will receive updates as they become available.
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY
Our community service committee is getting behind a fundraiser being put on by Community Smiles (f/k/a Waukesha Community Dental Clinic). And no, it will not cost you a dime - just a little time. We are looking for about 8-10 of our Rotarians to volunteer for their upcoming fundraising event called “Laugh for a Smile”. This is Community Smiles' primary fundraiser for the year, and they are anticipating a very good turnout for this event. This event will be held on Thursday, April 22nd at the Brookfield Conference Center from 5-8:30pm. The volunteers will be monitoring various stations, exhibits and touchless raffle tickets during the evening. The Brookfield Conference Center is located at 325 South Moreland Road (south end of Brookfield Square). If you would like to volunteer, please email Paul Jelacic at paul.jelacic@firstmidwest.com. Feel free to bring a friend or spouse along as well, to help out this great cause.
ROTARY PEACE FELLOWSHIP
The Rotary Foundation is now accepting applications for the 2022-23 Rotary Peace Fellowship program. Interested candidates should contact the Waukesha Rotary Club at

ROTARY CLUB OF THE FRIENDSHIP KNOT
This official virtual club of Rotary International currently has 46 members and all of them are involved in Scouting somewhere in the world. Former WRC member Rob Landquist recently joined this club and will occasionally be attending our meetings as a visiting Rotarian and will assist in some of our service projects. We'll be happy to see Rob again and will appreciate his assistance.

Although May 1 is the date of our Pancake festival, some members can help us out at the Pancake Festival and other members can sign up for the District Conference and bring back to the club some awesome and amazing ways we can improve on what we're doing. COMING UP
Our community service committee has signed us up to adopt a highway in our area for cleanup 3 times a year. We will be asking for volunteers in the near future. Please say, "Yes."
THE ROTARY ROSE PARADE FLOAT
The Rotary Rose Parade Float is a Rotary tradition that reaches back over 40 years to 1980. Though this is not an official program of Rotary International, six sponsoring Southern California Rotary Districts and hundreds of individual financial supporters from all over the continent help the Float Committee design, build and enter a float that promotes Rotary and the important work Rotarians do throughout the world. When we took up collections for this at our in person meetings, there were always a few Rotarians that liked to donate to this. If anyone would like to donate to this, you can send your donations to: Waukesha Rotary Club, P.O. Box 1876, Waukesha, WI 53187. Colleen will send all donations out at the end of April.
