"The goal is to restore hope — to help the world heal from destructive conflicts and, in turn, to help us achieve lasting change for ourselves."

Keeping You Up-To-Date:
2024 Pancake Festival:
Thank you to our entire club for your support, both financial and in-person, of this year's wonderful event! A special thank you goes out to our dedicated Pancake Committee, co-chaired by Amanda Roddy and Jacki Rynish-Knapp. We are also grateful to our many sponsors, members of the Waukesha Sunrise Club who joined our efforts, the students that helped and all of your family and friends that showed up and helped us put on this long-loved tradition. The funds we raise help so many organizations in the Waukesha community - we are truly creating hope in the world - one pancake at a time. Thanks so much for all you do!!!!!
Membership:
Our new member count for 2023/24 is now at 8. We are well on our way to reaching our goal of one new member per month! Our new members this year include: Michael Moro, Addy Fahrenkrug, Akhildev Remesan, Lyndsay Johnson, Anna Reinhardtren, Andrew Moser, Tom Flanagan, and our newest member - Luke Russell. We have had so many wonderful guests/potential new members join us for lunch. If you have not already done so, might you consider getting in contact with your guests once more? Invite them to another lunch and see if they would be interested in filling out an application. Let Colleen know if you need any help with this.
PolioPlus Raffle:
Did you ever wonder what the "plus" is in PolioPlus? The “plus” is something else that is provided as a part of the polio eradication campaign. It might be a hand-operated tricycle or access to water. It might be additional medical treatment, bed nets, or soap. One study estimates that vitamin A drops given to children at the same time as the polio vaccine have prevented 1.25 million deaths by decreasing susceptibility to infectious diseases. We are grateful to all of you who generously purchase raffle tickets once a month to help us reach our goal, and to the members of our board of directors for graciously purchasing and donating the items for our raffle. For 2023/24 we have collected $1,154, leaving us to raise an additional $346 before July 1st. Just another great way to Create Hope in the World!
Rotary Building to Undergo Renovations:
Our Rotary building will be unavailable to our club from 8/19/24 to 9/17/24. We are looking to find a temporary home during that time. If your place of business would like to host us, please let Colleen know so we can make the necessary arrangements. You would have the opportunity to give us a tour and present a short program on what your company is all about. (Or we can schedule a speaker if you prefer.) Our hope is that Bubb's will be willing to travel with us as well.
2024/25 District Grant:
Our club is still in the "investigating" stage of this process. They have an idea or two that they are looking at, but are very open to more ideas. Please contact Bruce Schmidt if you would like to make a suggestion. Keep in mind that the project must be something that involves the physical help of our members.
High School Speaker Program:
Talks from 8 of our students have been completed – 3 left. Finals scheduled for April 15.
World Affairs Seminar:
This year our club is sponsoring two students. We are so lucky to have the location right in our very own backyard at Carroll University. For more information on the WAS: https://worldaffairsseminar.org/was2024/
Waukesha Overflow Shelter:
We received the sad news last week that this shelter has closed due to lack of funding. Our community service committee is looking into many other possibilities for our club to "feed the hungry."
