Sep. 16, 2019

Dr. Cheryl Stucky will discuss her scientific research on the underlying role of chronic pain and how it impacts individuals disparately. Dr. Stucky’s work also relates to the battle against heroin and prescription opioid use disorder across our nation and in our community, and she will share what we can do to help. |

Magnificent Machines
Sep. 30, 2019
The Magnificent Machines of Milwaukee tells the story of innovation and enterprise creation in Milwaukee during the Century of Progress—the hundred years following the US Civil War. It was a remarkable era—Milwaukee was one of the principal centers of industrial innovation in the United States and became known as “the Machine Shop of the World.” Thomas Fehring, history and heritage chairman for the American Society for Mechanical Engineers, wrote the book. It is available for sale at the Milwaukee County Historical Society, and through Amazon.com and CreateSpace.com. As noted by John Gurda, Milwaukee writer and historian, “Until the Magnificent Machines of Milwaukee, the stories of these innovations and the men behind them had been told largely in fragmentary fashion—an article here, a scholarly reference there. Tom Fehring has assembled the entire cast of characters in a single book that is a testament to talent, an ode to ingenuity, and a singular contribution to the history of American industry.” Suggested Price: Printed book (448 pages-8.5x11 format) $23.99 |

CLUB AND COMMUNITY BLOOD DRIVE: At our meeting on October 7th, we will be holding a blood drive in conjunction with our regular lunch and speakers (club member talks). We sent an interest survey out a number of weeks ago. Thank you to everyone who signed up. The purpose of this invitation is to see if we can up the numbers a little. If we reach 30 interested people, the Blood Center will set up a sign up link for us to use for our members, their families, friends, business associates - anyone interested in donating to sign up with. We are hoping we can even use the link at BluesFest to sign up people outside of our club. So...even if you signed up before, please let us know again, along with the names of other people you know that would be interested. Please reply by August 1st so that we have a chance to set up the link before BluesFest. Remember, this is not a commitment at this time - it is still an interest survey. You will be making a commitment when we get the link to schedule times for everyone. We know not everyone can give - that's ok. Please still plan on joining us for that meeting on October 7th. Looking forward to hearing back from everyone. |

Gut Intelligence: Using Intuition for Business Advantage
Dec. 02, 2019
It used to be called “Women’s Intuition” and considered some mystical kind of gift. But recent brain research tells us there is a brain in our gut that has more neurotransmitters, neurons and hormones than in our heart or head. The key is to learn how to get this unconscious information up the gut-brain axis, so we can make sense of what we already unconsciously knew. Susan's Gut Intelligence Process will teach you how to create a superhighway of information between your gut, heart and head so you can align your decisions to your vision, values and goals. We've all had those situations when our gut said one thing, our heart another and our head chattered yet something else. This inner incongruity makes it difficult for us to make decisions with confidence and to be taken seriously! That's why we need increased Gut Intelligence so we can be clear, calm and confident in the decision-making moments that matter! In Susan's talk, you will learn her 3-Simple Steps to Gut Intelligence: Own it! Ask it! Voice it! You will learn how to own that ping in your gut, ask your intuitive what it means, and then voice your truth in a constructive way that aligns your decision to the vision, values and goals. How? Susan will teach you her practical S.T.O.P. Technique to help you: Slow down and breathe, Tune in within, Observe what is happening and Perceive a new possibility! No longer will you react to difficult people or situations. Instead, you will have the wisdom to know the truth and guts to do something about it! |
