Ben Merens is the “Chief Storyteller” for the philanthropy team of the Blood Research Institute.He joined the BRI, which is part of BloodCenter of Wisconsin, in April of 2016 to help raise awareness of the BRI’s work and mission, and to help raise funds for research. In 2016, Ben also taught a graduate seminar on storytelling at Mount Mary University. Ben is well-known throughout the state for his 21-year tenure as a talk show host on Wisconsin Public Radio. He also is a public speaker with an expertise in listening. He is the author of the audio book, “People Are Dying To Be Heard.” Ben, and his wife Michele, live on Milwaukee’s north shore. Their daughter, Hope, is a senior at the University of Pennsylvania – where she is studying brain science. Ben also is the president of Congregation Shalom, the largest Reform Jewish Synagogue in the state located in Fox Point.

Mallory Swenson is the Community Engagement/Fund Development Specialist for Community Action Coalition For South Central Wisconsin (CAC). CAC is a local nonprofit providing food, clothing, and housing programs to Dane, Jefferson, and Waukesha Counties. Mallory holds a degree in Community & Nonprofit Leadership with a minor in Global Health from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. |

Foxconn, Haribo and Beyond: What These Deals Mean for SE Wisconsin

Jim Paetsch is Vice President of the Milwaukee 7, the regional economic development entity for southeastern Wisconsin, and oversees the organization’s corporate attraction, expansion and retention activities. Jim works directly with companies looking to create jobs and invest capital in the region. Since its inception in 2005, the Milwaukee 7 has worked with its regional and state partners to create/retain more than 29,000 jobs and spur $11.5 billion of capital investment. Recent project wins include Taiwanese electronics manufacturer Foxconn, Milwaukee e-commerce company Direct Supply, and German gummy bear producer Haribo. Jim holds masters degrees from Northwestern University and UW-Milwaukee. He serves on the board of Literacy Services of Wisconsin.
