I am honoured to serve as the Chair of the 2018 FortisBC Rotary Pro- Am Golf Tournament, which takes place on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at the Harvest Golf Club.
This very popular event attracts a cross section of business and professional people, participating as amateurs, and features a Golf Professional’s Purse of $15,000. We strive to provide an excellent player experience, as well as raise funds to support our Rotary initiatives. Our tournament is an excellent example of individuals and organizations coming together in the spirit of teamwork to help fund our Rotary initiatives.
Last year, a significant portion of the funds raised supported the building and outfitting of a commercial kitchen at Freedom’s Door, a local non-profit recovery home for male addicts. In the past, we have secured funds for scholarships, KGH health programs, the Salvation Army, youth programs, education/literacy programs, and many others. This year, we are proud to announce that the Central Okanagan Foodbank will receive a large portion of the funds, to be used in capital projects at their new location.
Our volunteers work tirelessly to make sure that we answer the needs in our Community. After all, we are all brothers and sisters. It is an honour and a pleasure to help. Giving is indeed cool.
