Traditionally, scholarships are given to the top academic students however, the Rotary Club of Kelowna Strive Scholarship Program is a new initiative and aims at the other end of the achievement spectrum.

The targeted students are those struggling in "life" (poor home life, single parents, etc.).

Any student with the potential to graduate in the current year and has been affirmed by the school's counselor as having the "background" to qualify is eligible to apply.

Approved applicants sign a contract agreeing to:
   1. Develop a positive attitude through demonstrable and positive behavioral change.
   2. Work and study to the best of their ability.
   3. Attend classes regularly.

The applicants will be supported and their progress monitored throughout the school year by the counselor. In June, along with a committee from the Rotary Club of Kelowna, the successful candidates will be chosen.

The Rotary Club of Kelowna will provide a $750 entry scholarship to university, college or a minimum 20 week post secondary training program.
