Dec 2 2015 Lunch meeting
Today we were asked by Grant to give him suggestions and points on what we liked and what we could do better for next year’s Christmas party. Those that did attend commented that it was a lot of fun!
Keith announced that this week is the week to kick off our annual Christmas Wheelbarrow Raffle. Teams are all set and ready to go.
Barb was looking for her weekly volunteers to hit the local pubs Wed and Thurs evening to sell WestJet tickets.
Assistant District Governor Cherlye King and M.A.R.S. rep Jim King were at today’s meeting. They both gave refresher talks on why we joined Rotary.
Today we gave out 3 Paul Harris Fellowship awards. Ryan Lloyd did a wonderful job officiating the presentations to Cal , Paul and President Sandra.
New member Terisa Adam presented her “Thumbnail speech” to the club. It gave all of us a much better idea of her passion and business call “Live Alive and Free. She guides successful leaders and outrageous adventurers to live more of their passion and authenticity.
Brian was so excited to announce to the club that the Books for the Wellness project have arrived, have been sorted and are ready for delivery out to the receiving schools. He really wants a hands on involvement at the Club level and was asking for volunteers to meet at the IMC Building on Tuesday Dec 8 @ 12:30 pm. Members will then be given batches of books to take out to various schools. There will then be an opportunity to share them with the kids and even spend some time reading with the kids as well.
Terisa reported back that in order to set up a team of us to volunteer at the local Soupateria we need participate in the Soupateria’s orientation which will take about 2 hrs. Then Rotary will be added to their schedule in the upcoming months.
Youth Exchange student Eleonore’ asked the club if anyone had some ski equipment that she could borrow so that she could hit Apex Mtn soon.
Today Sheriff Ben fines included the misspelling of his name from Ben to Ken courtesy of Robert. Dave C was fined for being a heavy hitter Sheriff and Judi was fined for not having her name tag on today.
