The third Thursday of each month is what members of The Rotary Club of Rochester call Third Thursdays small group meetings. The week of April 12, Rotarians will gather in their preassigned small groups at a time and place predetermined by the individual groups. Whether it be online or in-person, if you're unsure where and when your group is planning to meet this week, contact your group's leader. It came down to the championship game between Baylor and Gonzaga to determine a winner of The Rotary Club of Rochester's March Madness fundraiser. In the end, Mark Dripps made the better guess (or was it all skill) between he and Sara Gilliland. With $580 donated by Rotarians who filled out brackets, half was designated to the club's foundation, and as the March Madness winner, Mark donated the other half to the non-profit of his choice - Exercisabilities. Thank you to Kristine Ihrke for coordinating the fundraiser, and thank you to all Rotarians for participating.
Guest speaker Sarah Clarke talked about the work of the Education Partnerships Coalition (EPC). The Coalition engages more than 120,000 youth and their families across Minnesota. Area EPC members include Austin Aspires, Cradle 2 Career (Rochester), Every Hand Joined (Red Wing), Generation Next (Twin Cities), Northfield Promise, Northside Achievement Zone (Minneapolis), United Way of Central Minnesota (St. Cloud area), and Saint Paul Promise Neighborhood. Coalition members take a birth-to-career approach to eliminating Minnesota’s worst-in-the-nation opportunity gaps.
