Here's more information on the convening: Each community has a unique way of coming together to solve community-wide problems. Whether it is raising awareness or putting tactics into place, we learn from how others have tackled obstacles and put together our own plan for our own communities. Cradle 2 Career's Fall Convening encourages each person to think about investment through the lens of Collective Impact. What does it look like if a community aligns their resources (time, talent, or financials) to a shared result? What does it look like when a community shares and uses local data to drive decisions? What does it look like when a community makes decisions through an equity lens?

As you know, polio eradication is our most significant priority around the world. For more than 30 years, Rotary has been the glue that has held the Global Polio Eradication Initiative together and we have seen remarkable progress over that time! In 1988, there were over 350,000 cases of polio annually, while this year there has only been 71 so far this year. This number has ticked up the last two years, but there is still progress being made: As of August 21st, Nigeria has not reported a case of polio in three years, meaning that Africa will be considered polio free in 2020!
On World Polio Day, thousands of Rotary clubs around the world will hold events and fundraisers to recognize our progress in the global fight to end polio.

The Rotary Clubs of Rochester will once again host a Pizza for Polio event but with a different twist this year. Mark your calendars, watch for more details, and plan to eat pizza with friends and family on October 24!

Organize a fundraiser and invite guests to experience what it’s like to vaccinate children by viewing Rotary’s virtual reality film, “Two Drops of Patience.” (Download Rotary’s VR app to your Apple or Android device.)
Write a letter to the editor of your local newspaper about the importance of ending polio. Send it to the letters or opinion page editor for consideration.
