Moccasin Flower Update
As we begin our 2019-20 Rotary year, we are making a change to the way club information will be provided to you. Rather than a weekly informational email and a lengthier monthly newsletter, you will be receiving a weekly bulletin with meeting information and current stories. We hope this change will allow club information to reach everyone in a more timely manner and the format be more manageable for our members' busy lifestyles. You are encouraged, as well, to find information on our club website and Facebook page
July 11 Traditional Meeting
Program:  "Honoring and Preserving the Legacy" - Mayo Clinic Historic Buildings
Presenter:  John Murphy
Location:  Suite 101, Mayo Civic Center

John Murphy serves as the Mayo Clinic Public Affairs contact to Mayo Clinic Facilities Management. In that role, he helps communicate internally and externally various building projects and their tie to Mayo strategy. This presentation examines how historic buildings enhance the Mayo Patient/Visitor Experience, align with the Mayo Clinic mission, and improve the quality of life for residents in Rochester. Two Mayo projects:  the Plummer Building and Mayowood restorations are highlighted. The audience will see the extensive efforts to preserve and adapt those buildings for use.

Rotary Connects the World, the 2019-2020 Theme for Rotary International
Rotary Really does connect ALL of us in various ways big or small from a local level at our club of about 160 members, to an International organization of around 1.2 Million.  Pat and I recently were privileged to attend the RI Convention in Hamburg, Germany where we connected with about 30,000 Rotarians. We truly are people of action.  This is our brief story of our rotary connections before and during the RI Convention. We met many Rotarians and symbols of our organization along the way.

Be the Inspiration Award
Our Be the Inspiration Award honors Rotarians for their contribution to Rotary's vision that "Together, we see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change -- across the globe, in our communities, and in ourselves." On June 27, former recipient Diane Ilstrup recognized Mikayla Schmidt, highlighting Mikayla's service to the club and community through STRIVE mentorship and volunteerism at meetings. Diane reminded longer-term Rotarians to be inspired by the younger members, acknowledging their abilities and their dedication to service.
