Rotary started with the vision of one man — Paul Harris. The Chicago attorney formed the Rotary Club of Chicago on 23 February 1905, so professionals with diverse backgrounds could exchange ideas and form meaningful, lifelong friendships. Over time, Rotary’s reach and vision gradually extended to humanitarian service. Members have a long track record of addressing challenges in their communities and around the world.
“Whatever Rotary may mean to us, to the world it will be known by the results it achieves.“ - - Paul Harris, Rotary founder

Rochester Rotary Riser April Sutor has highlighted the need for additional volunteers for Rochester’s Meals on Wheels to help deliver food throughout the week.
Delivery routes around town take about an hour to an hour and a half from start to finish, with no minimum volunteer requirement, just as much as you can help out.
Meals on Wheels provides hot, nutritious home delivered meals. Each meal meets one third of the daily-recommended nutrients containing: protein, starch, fruits and vegetables, salad and dessert.
Access to healthy meals can be an important part of helping people to remain living independently in their own homes.
Volunteers deliver meals over the noon hour. Meals are prepared under the supervision of a licensed dietitian and special diets are available. Meals on Wheels are available to greater Rochester area residents who are not able to prepare or easily access a healthy meal. Often recipients are frail, convalescing or have disabilities. Through Meals on Wheels recipients are able to improve or maintain health and remain living independently in their own homes.
Meals are delivered seven days a week in Rochester and if you’d like to sign up and become a volunteer you can find more information here.
In last week's District Governor email, Dayle Quigley reminded us of the need for shelter worldwide especially in areas with recent crises: Pakistan flooding, Ukraine war, and earthquake devastation in Turkey and Syria.
In January 2023, The Rotary Foundation Trustees established two temporary funds to assist Pakistan and Ukraine, two areas that are facing extreme need.
How to contribute
You can give online, by check, or by transferring District Designated Funds:
To give by check, make it payable to The Rotary Foundation or to an associate foundation and include a completed contribution form. In the DESIGNATION/PURPOSE section, choose Other and write the fund name (Pakistan Flood Response Fund or Ukraine Response Fund).
Earthquakes in Turkey and Syria
ShelterBox is responding after a series of powerful earthquakes hit Turkey and northern Syria. Please donate today to help people affected by the earthquakes and other disasters around the world. https://www.shelterboxusa.org/
