In recognition of our club’s 100th anniversary, we’ve set a goal of raising $10,000 to fund the benches that will surround the proposed Silver Lake Pool and Splash Pad area. To help achieve that goal, a member of our club has generously offered a Challenge Grant to contribute $1 for every $3 given by Rotary members. How does the Challenge Grant work? For example, when a member donates $100, the 100th Anniversary project will receive an additional $33.33 from the Challenge Grant. Overall, when our members contribute a total of $7,500, this Challenge Grant contributes an additional $2,500, and we’ve met the $10,000 goal!
Are we up for the challenge? The Challenge Grant has been extended! Please consider making your donation by September 30, 2024.
What a great turnout for the August White Oaks Park Clean-up! This small, but mighty group of Rotary Club of Rochester members regularly clean White Oaks Park on the third Wednesday of each month during the warmer months, which in Minnesota is only two more months. The group usually begins at6:00 p.m. and is done cleaning up in less than an hour. Care to join? A bucket or plastic garbage bag, gloves and good shoes is all that's needed for the clean-up. There is a sign in the park stating that the park has been adopted by our club. If you would like to help keep the park clean and be outdoors, come the next third Wednesday of the month. Four-person scramble, nine holes with cart is $32.00 All levels of golfers are welcome! This is meant for fun, not for competitive golf! Sign-up as a team, or individually, and we will put you on a team. All Rotarians and friends are welcome! We plan to have various prizes for golf. If you have any prizes you would like to donate, please let Tamsen know! If you're not interested in golfing, join us for happy hour after around 4:00 pm at Tamsen's home. Check that you are attending as a volunteer, if you intend to volunteer.The three Rotary Clubs have been asked to provide 18-20 volunteers. Click HERE to view the list of volunteer needs. Volunteers will be asked to participate in a volunteer training day the week prior to or the week of the event for about an hour to help orient volunteers with their specific tasks. Once you register as a volunteer, Angalee Schmidt from C2C will contact you about your assignment.
Worldwide, 67 million children have no access to education, and more than 775 million people over the age of 15 are illiterate. Rotarians support educational projects that provide technology, teacher training, vocational training teams, student meal programs, and low-cost textbooks to communities. Our goal is to strengthen the capacity of communities to support basic education and literacy, reduce gender disparity in education, and increase adult literacy.
The Rotary Club of Rochester Let’s start with the Club’s income. By far most of the club’s income comes from dues. Other income includes money from the Foundation to support the salary of the Club Administrator who assists the Foundation. Happy Bucks also support the Club.
Then let’s move on to expenses for the club. Approximately half of all dues go to support the Rotary District and Rotary International administration. The dollars from dues and The Foundation support the salary of the Club Administrator. Dues also cover things such as licenses for Clubrunner and the website, Zoom, merchant fees for credit card transactions, taxes and insurance, postage, and new member lunches. (Yes, you can bring a prospective new member, and the club will pick up the cost of their lunch.) The Rotary Club of Rochester is a 501c4 organization which is a membership organization.
Through the years, The Rotary Club of Rochester has accumulated "points" which can be converted to Paul Harris Fellows. The points total continues to grow so the TRCR Board decided now is as good a time as any to share the spirit of Rotary and the honor of awarding Paul Harris Fellows to deserving members of our community. Nominees can be a Rotarian but do not have to be as a nominee can be anyone in the community.
