On Thursday, January 21, The Rotary Club of Rochester is introducing a new meeting format for the third week of each month. At our noon meeting, membership will be divided into small groups of 9-11 people with the purpose of getting to know one another better and deepen relationships across the club. There is also the potential that these smaller groups will come up with ideas of how to better serve our community as Rotarians. Due to COVID-19, it is unclear what service opportunities might look like as we safely live out the Rotary motto of “Service Above Self.”
If you missed last week's midday meeting and the presentation by Rotarian and University of Minnesota Rochester Chancellor Lori Carrell, a replay of her presentation is available on the Rotary Club of Rochester's YouTube channel.
During her talk, Chancellor Carrell spoke about UMR's response to the many disruptions of the last year and the University's focus on sustaining student learning and well-being.
From Julie Brock, Director of Club Meeting Activities
Thank you for being part of Rotary. We recognize that virtual meetings are not ideal, but they afford us an opportunity to hear from one another, see each other, and remember there is representation of the four way test in each face on the screen.
We want to make sure we hear from the voices of each and every member in our meetings over the course of the year. We have several opportunities for you.
Please sign-up to lead the four-way test, or give a reflection or vocation talkhere. We have the meetings scheduled out until December, 2021, so please choose any 2nd or 4th Thursday meeting that works with your schedule.
The Salvation Army is looking for volunteers to assist with a variety of community service opportunities. Days and shifts vary. Click on the "Read More" button for more information. You are encouraged to volunteer individually for any of the following:

This year’s Rotary District 5960's Mid-Term will be different than previous years. Since we are not able to gather together, District leadership decided to focus on a few new topics that are helping Clubs thrive during the pandemic and beyond.
On Monday, January 25, at 6:30 p.m. a panel of representatives from three clubs will share some of their amazing work.
Jon Stagman, President of the Waseca Club on “Reimagining the Club”
Kevin Donovan, Team Leader for White Bear Lake’s DEI (Diversity, Equity & Inclusion) Team
Kent Peterson, from the Arden Hills-Shoreview Club who founded and chaired the Suburban Ramsey Emergency Coalition
On Thursday, January 28 at 4:30 p.m. a virtual Workshop on Rotary’s Innovative Club Models will be offered. Kathy Fahy will reprise her role as facilitator from last year's NCPETS (President-elect training) held in Rochester.
The Mid-Term sessions are open to all District 5960 Rotarians. You can sign-up for both events below:
