Even though we won't be able to gather in-person at this year's Rotary Club of Rochester Holiday Luncheon, that doesn't mean we can't gather virtually to enjoy some holiday entertainment presented by Guitarist Ben Gateno.
A native of southern Minnesota, Ben earned Master’s and Doctoral degrees in performance from the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York. Following graduate school Ben studied for one year with renowned teacher and performer Antigoni Goni in Brussels, Belgium. After his return to the US, Ben spent five years performing extensively as a member of the Minneapolis Guitar Quartet. An extremely versatile musician, Ben enjoys presenting solo guitar programs that feature a wide range of styles and genres, with a special emphasis on classical, country blues, and ragtime. Ben resides in Rochester, Minnesota, where he maintains a busy private teaching schedule.

As of December 15, there are five openings for December 19: Two openings from 2:30-4:30 p.m. and one opening each at 8:30 a.m., 10:30 a.m., and 6:30 p.m.
Please consider signing-up to ring bells! Bell ringing is a tradition of The Rotary Club of Rochester, and we are committed to ringing bells each Saturday, November 14 - December 19 at HyVee 37th Street. Shifts are 8:30 am - 8:30 pm. Please check your schedule and register hereto serve. Rotarians are always encouraged to enjoy community service with family members, but this year we ask you to especially consider it with COVID-19 guidelines in place.
The Rotary Club of Rochester is looking to pilot something new starting in January. The third Thursday of the month meetings will be replaced with a small group meeting. The membership of the small group will remain the same from January to June during the pilot. This will allow you to build and deepen relationships and explore an idea of “Service Above Self” that will be unique to your group.
Rochester Mayor Kim Norton hosted a virtual ceremony on December 10 to recognize the recipients of the Mayor's Medal of Honor awards.
The Mayor's Medal of Honor recognizes residents who have gone above and beyond to serve the community. There are 14 categories including, Community-Wide Service, Champion of Diversity, Heroism, Sustainability, Excellence in Industry, as well as a Youth Serving Community award.
The following Rotary Club of Rochester Rotarians who were among the honorees:
Audrey Betcher and the staff of Rochester Public Library received the Above and Beyond Award for their efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Past Rotary District Governor from Rochester, Al DeBoer, was recognized with a Lifetime Service Commendation and Key to the City.

You purchase and spend the cards at face value, but the club receives 5% back from Apollo Liquor and Kwik Trip, and 4% back from Menards.
