David Steenhoek, Community Engagement Coordinator at Channel One Regional Food Bank will share what Channel One is doing to fight food insecurity in our community and what we can do together to be successful. David began working with Channel One in 2018 in his current role after working as a pastor and missionary for eight years in Oregon and Minneapolis. He graduated from Trinity Christian College in Palos Heights, Illinois, with degrees in Theology and Sociology. A Rochester resident for the past six years, David has a 7-year-old daughter that attends Riverside Elementary and shared, via his bio, that his Covid quarantine hobby was making tree ring prints.
A few members of TRCR were brainstorming ideas for their small groups and came up with the idea of inviting all TRCR Rotarians, and their friends and family, to attend a Rochester Honkers baseball game on Thursday, July 29. The first pitch is at 6:35 p.m.
Through the Honkers fundraising initiative, Rotary members have an opportunity to purchase a special ticket package for the July 29th Honkers home game against the Bismarck Larks. For only $10, the special Rotary ticket package includes a reserved bleacher ticket and a voucher for a hot dog and a pop. The best part? For each ticket package sold, $5 will go directly back to our club!
To register, simply fill out the form and indicate how many tickets you would like to purchase. A Honkers ticket representative will contact you directly to collect payment and have your tickets set aside for pickup at will call the night of the game.
As we enjoy another beautiful Minnesota summer, the December holiday season is far from the minds of many - with one exception - Rotarians who work year-round behind the scenes for the Rotary Holiday Classic!
The success of the Holiday Classic is based on many components - high school basketball players and their coaches, fans in the stands who pay to watch 30 teams play multiple games, favorable winter weather, Rotary volunteers, and last but not least, the Classic's advertisers and sponsors. Without all of these components, the Classic wouldn't exist, but it's our advertisers and sponsors who commit thousands of dollars in funding that underwrite the expenses that an event such as the Classic generate.
We are fortunate to have Mayo Clinic Orthopedics and Sports Medicine as our "presented by" sponsor for December's Classic. This team of specialists focus not only on sports-related injuries but offer a wealth of information that is applicable to most everyone. If you own a business or have friends that do, please encourage them to become a Holiday Classic sponsor and/or advertiser. Information for sponsorships and program advertisements are available on the Holiday Classic website. The Rotary Clubs of Rochester have given more than $1 million over 30 years to youth-related non-profit organizations in the area. The informal Rotary After Hours which meets the first Thursday of the month will resume on August 5. We will meet near the Rochester Public Library at the corner of 2nd Street and 1st Avenue SW at 5:30 p.m. and walk over to enjoy Thursdays Downtown. Free parking is available at the Civic Center ramp.
And the “Third Thursdays" small group meetings will continue as your individual groups have determined. Your “convener” will send you an invite. We continue to plan for a change to the small groups in September.

Did you know that if you buy the majority of your gas at Kwik Trip, you could pre-pay for your gas AND help the club at the same time? A $100 Kwik Trip card immediately creates $5 for the club and any in-store purchases creates another 5% donation.If you would like to purchase Scrip cards, send an email to romnrotary@gmail.com with how many and what denomination you'd like. In additional to Kwik Trip, Scrip cards are also available to Apollo Liquor and Menards. The cards are purchased at face value, but the club receives 5% back from Apollo Liquor and Kwik Trip and 4% back from Menards. The club receives an additional 5% on purchases at Kwik Trip, other than gas, inside the store.
