The third Thursday of each month is what members of The Rotary Club of Rochester call Third Thursdays Small Group meetings. This is the week Rotarians gather in their preassigned small groups at a time and place predetermined by the individual groups. Whether it be online or in-person, if you're unsure where and when your group is planning to meet this week, contact your group's leader.
Please join our TRCR’s White Oaks Park Clean-up crew as Rotarians and friends of Rotary every third Wednesday of each month from May-October! The small, but enthusiastically efficient team meets around 6:00 p.m. at White Oaks Park (4597 55th St. NW, Rochester). Enjoy fun and fellowship while making the Park cleaner to serve the many groups who come to stroll, play in the playground, baseball field, and visit local neighbors. Everyone who comes to help clean has different reasons for why they participate in this volunteer activity. Our sergeant-at-arms, John Woodruff, is often guiding us on how to ‘deep clean’ the rougher areas, too! For one devoted, 7-year old volunteer, Myles Carlson, son of Phet Saysomphou, friend of Rotary, he does it because, “I help others by cleaning the earth.” He is one child, serving one hour, collecting one grocery bag of garbage each month, feeling rewarded in his service and making a bigger impact than he may even realize. Whatever reasons you may find to participate, imagine the greater impact an added few more of us could make each month, together.
A few members of TRCR were brainstorming ideas for their small groups and came up with the idea of inviting all TRCR Rotarians, and their friends and family, to attend a Rochester Honkers baseball game on Thursday, July 29. The first pitch is at 6:35 p.m.
Through the Honkers fundraising initiative, Rotary members have an opportunity to purchase a special ticket package for the July 29th Honkers home game against the Bismarck Larks. For only $10, the special Rotary ticket package includes a reserved bleacher ticket and a voucher for a hot dog and a pop. The best part? For each ticket package sold, $5 will go directly back to our club!
To register, simply fill out the form and indicate how many tickets you would like to purchase. A Honkers ticket representative will contact you directly to collect payment and have your tickets set aside for pickup at will call the night of the game.
As President Audrey Betcher mentioned at a recent club weekly meeting, a draft of the club's strategic plan is available for your awareness and review. If you have any questions or comments, please contact President Audrey.
Members of The Rotary Club of Rochester have supported the Jeremiah Program's mission is to "Disrupt the cycle of poverty for single mothers and their children two generations at a time" by contributing to a meal for all of the Jeremiah families. The Rochester Jeremiah mothers meet every Tuesday evening for Empowerment and Life Skills training. Prior to class, families (35 mothers, 35 children, and 10 babies) are provided a meal, through donations from local groups and individuals. TRCR members donated $500 for a Tuesday evening meal in June for all the Jeremiah families and have contributed $300 toward a July meal. If you would like to contribute toward a July meal, please send a check, for your chosen amount, made out to: Jeremiah Program - Rochester. In the memo line, note "Cook4Kids" and mail your check to:
The informal Rotary After Hours which meets the first Thursday of the month will resume on August 5. We will meet near the Rochester Public Library at the corner of 2nd Street and 1st Avenue SW at 5:30 p.m. and walk over to enjoy Thursdays Downtown. Free parking is available at the Civic Center ramp.
And the “Third Thursdays" small group meetings will continue as your individual groups have determined. Your “convener” will send you an invite. We continue to plan for a change to the small groups in September.

A $100 Kwik Trip card immediately creates $5 for the club and any in-store purchases creates another 5% donation.If you would like to purchase Scrip cards, send an email to romnrotary@gmail.com with how many and what denomination you'd like. In additional to Kwik Trip, Scrip cards are also available to Apollo Liquor and Menards. The cards are purchased at face value, but the club receives 5% back from Apollo Liquor and Kwik Trip and 4% back from Menards. The club receives an additional 5% on purchases at Kwik Trip, other than gas, inside the store.
