Rotarians and Rotary friends will gather this Thursday, July 18, for meetings in small groups at Charter House and Trinity Lutheran Church. There will be no meeting this month at Express Employment Professionals. You're invited to "brown bag it" and join others at 11:30 am to eat and socialize. Starting at 12 pm, President Colin will lead the business meeting from Trinity, and the other location will watch via Facebook Live. An online program and small group discussions will follow. Rotarians and friends will gather for park cleanup at White Oaks Park (4597 55 St NW, Rochester) tomorrow, Wednesday, July 17, 6-8 pm. Additional volunteers are needed this month to help spread mulch around the park's trees. Volunteers are asked to provide their own shovels and wheelbarrows if possible. If rain occurs, this service will be delayed until Friday , July 19 or Monday, July 22, and information will be sent via email.
Rotarians Lorie Luedke and Bill Nietz were honored by the club with Paul Harris Fellow recognition, presented at our June 27 Rotary meeting by 2018-19 RI Foundation Chair Janice Domke.
Lorie Luedke formatted the club's Moccasin Flower newsletter for fifteen years. Lorie not only gave her time but also shared her computer skills, communications knowledge, and creativity to help generate the monthly publication. Thank you, Lorie.
Bill Nietz, for many years, has donated time to serve as our club accountant. Bill is available to meet monthly with the Administrative Director to review Rotary accounts, prepares our tax documents, and provides answers to financial questions presented by the the Rotary Club of Rochester Foundation board. "Beech and Holmes planned their first WE (Women Entreprenuers) Forum, “Funding Sources.” They planned an opportunity for women entrepreneurs to participate in tabletop discussions on the topic of funding and to join a research study on the funding of the women entrepreneurs in southeastern Minnesota. A panel of experts in venture capital, angel investing, revenue generation, lending and grants shared their thoughts on funding female entrepreneurship and offered tips for navigating the challenges of fundraising for female founders."
For nearly 40 years, Mark Daniel Maloney and his family have demonstrated that Rotary connects the world. Now the self-described 'cheerful traveler' embarks on the next phase of his life's journey: serving as Rotary International's new president.
It's two weeks before Christmas in northern Alabama, and the Rotary Club of Decatur is in full Yuletide mode. Last Saturday, working alongside members of the Church at Stone River, the club members treated more than 70 children to a pancake breakfast and a shopping trip to Target. Now at the club's Monday meeting, the Austin Junior High jazz band is rocking the seasonal songs: "Santa Baby," "Feliz Navidad," "Baby, It's Cold Outside" — though with temperatures nudging up against 40 degrees Fahrenheit, it feels, for early December, borderline balmy.
