33 TRCR Holiday Classic Volunteer Slots to Fill by Friday
The Rotary Holiday Classic, our annual 3-club Rotary fundraiser, is only 17 days away. Thirty-two varsity basketball teams will be hosted December 27 and 28 at Mayo Civic Center. All net proceeds from the event will be distributed as grants to local nonprofits working with youth for education.

This year, 30% of the net proceeds from the Classic will be distributed to the three Rotary clubs of Rochester for Rotary youth and education programs, and each club will have the opportunity to receive an equal share of those proceeds based on their (proportionate) volunteerism at the event. If a clubs staffs all required shifts to meet its volunteer requirement, 100% of their share will be paid. Signups will be designated by clubs only until December 13. If a club does not meet the requirement, they will receive proceeds based on the percentage of actual shifts served. Remaining dollars will be distributed to the other clubs based on their percentage of volunteerism.

Please check your calendar and sign up here before December 13 to serve your shift(s).  Thank you for your help with this annual event!

Rotary Bell Ringing for Salvation Army

Salvation Army bell ringing is a tradition of The Rotary Club of Rochester. "When you volunteer to bell ring, you help improve, and even save lives. The money dropped in a red kettle goes right back into your local community. By now you’ve likely heard that two hours of your time at a Salvation Army red kettle raises about $60 in donations."

Ringers are needed for six Saturdays, starting Saturday, November 16 and ending Saturday, December 21. All but one Saturday will be served at inside locations. Please take a look at your calendar and sign up for a shift or two! Friends of Rotary and family members of all ages are welcome to serve as volunteers, as well!

Register here or via the calendar link on each date.   ONE volunteer is still needed for this Saturday, December 14!

2019 Matching Gift Opportunity
To encourage giving to The Rotary Foundation of Rotary International during November and December, 2019 and help members achieve a Paul Harris Fellow recognition faster:

• The club will match any donation to The Rotary Foundation of Rotary International up to $200. The club’s match comes from recognition points accumulated through club donations to The Rotary Foundation of Rotary International.
• The donation must be made during November and December, 2019 to be eligible for the matching points.
• You are responsible to notify Elizabeth Karsell, our club administrative director, that you contributed, so that Elizabeth can transfer the matching club points. Or, Elizabeth could facilitate your contribution and the club’s matching points.
