The Rotary Club of Rochester's annual Holiday Luncheon is Thursday, December 16 from 11:30 am-1:00 pm. To guarantee lunch will be available for you, let Amber know via email (romnrotary@gmail.com) by noon, Wednesday, December 15, if you are planning to attend and whether you will be bringing a guest. You can also make a reservation and prepay for lunch via the club's website here. We must have an accurate count of attendees to ensure there are enough lunches available. Dave Townsend and the "Rochester Duo" will provide musical entertainment. This will be our last weekly Rotary meeting of the year.
Merry Christmas and an even happier new year to all!
Two weeks until the Holiday Classic and 12 more volunteers are needed.Funding of our club's projects depends on TRCR members signing up to volunteer at the Rotary Holiday on Tuesday, December 28 and Wednesday, December 29. More than 80 volunteers are needed over the two days to host the players and fans. Thirty percent of the net proceeds from this year's Classic will be distributed to the three Rotary clubs of Rochester for Rotary youth and education programs, and each club will have the opportunity to receive an equal share of those proceeds based on their (proportionate) volunteerism at the event. If a club staffs all required shifts to meet its volunteer requirement, 100% of their share will be paid out. If a club does not meet their volunteer requirement, they will receive proceeds based on the percentage of actual shifts their club membership worked. The remaining dollars will be distributed to the other clubs based on their percentage of volunteerism.
Thank you to the 87 Rochester Rotarians who have purchased Holiday Classic passes or made a donation. If you purchased passes or made a donation, you'll see your name in the Holiday Classic program. Here's the list of Rotarians as of December 14 who will be listed in the program. You have until noon on Wednesday, December 15 to add your name to the list in support of the Holiday Classic. Let Amber know if your name was missed.
Each Rochester Rotarian is asked to either purchase two passes to the Holiday Classic and/or make a $50 donation to the Classic. You can use EITHER this link or thislink. Rotarians Audrey Betcher and Elaine Case's proposal to present a breakout session, titled Success! Collective Impact Improves Education Gaps, at the 2022 Rotary International Convention in Houston was accepted! They presented a similar session at the District Conference in 2020 and were encouraged by many participants to submit it for the International Convention. The focus is heavily on the power of Rotary commissioning work to identify significant community gaps and then bringing people/experts together under a Collective Impact model to develop strategies for community led solutions. Obviously, Rochester's work is centered on Cradle 2 Career but this same process can be used by any community to create significant, long-term change.
Did you know that if you buy the majority of your gas at Kwik Trip, you could pre-pay for your gas AND help the club at the same time? A $100 Kwik Trip card immediately creates $5 for the club and any in-store purchases creates another 5% donation. If you would like to purchase Scrip cards, send an email to romnrotary@gmail.com with how many and what denomination you'd like. In additional to Kwik Trip, Scrip cards are also available to Apollo Liquor and Menards. The cards are purchased at face value, but the club receives 5% back from Apollo Liquor and Kwik Trip and 4% back from Menards. The club receives an additional 5% on purchases at Kwik Trip, other than gas, inside the store.
