February 24 Midday Meeting - Overview of the Work of IMAA
Program: An Overview of the Work of IMAA
Presenter:  Armin Budimlic, Executive Director Intercultural Mutual Assistance Association (IMAA)
IMAA is a nonprofit organization which provides support services that foster the well-being and independence of refugees and immigrants in SE Minnesota.

You may purchase lunch at the door on Thursday for $25 or join the meeting without purchasing lunch. A link to join the meeting online, via Zoom, will be available. Watch for an email from Amber with the link.
March 3 - First Thursday Committee Meetings
The first Thursday of the month has been designated by The Rotary Club of Rochester as a time for TRCR committee meetings to convene.

So, what happens from 11:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. the first Thursday of the month?  To encourage members to participate in club committees, the first Thursday of the month has been designated as a time when members of club committees can meet during the club's originally scheduled meeting time. This saves members from trying to find another time outside of the club's regular weekly meeting time to take care of committee business.

What if I'm not on a committee? You are welcome to come to the Even Hotel (our new meeting place) and socialize. If you're planning to come and eat lunch, the same meeting registration process pertains.  You must register by noon on the Monday prior to that week's meeting.

If you're currently not a member of a committee and are interested in joining one, let Amber or one of the club's board members know, and they'll try and find a committee that fits your interests.
Extended through March! Share the Love in February - RI Foundation
District 5960 announces its SHARE the LOVE campaign for 2021-22 to encourage giving to the Rotary International Foundation’s Annual Fund-SHARE for February!

Each year, Rotarians are encouraged to give to the Foundation’s Annual Fund which are the funds that come back to our clubs/district to utilize in grants.  Plain and simple, the more we give to the Annual Fund, the more impact we can have in our communities and around the world.  This year, the District set an achievable goal of raising $500,000 for the Annual Fund (we reached a record total of $471,834 in 2020-21).

The campaign has typically been held in February, but has been extended through the month of March. It's a great opportunity to give to the RI Foundations Annual Fund-SHARE. As always, Rotarians are encouraged to give something, regardless of the amount.  After all, when we are all working together, our impact is much greater!

Contributions for Jeremiah Program family meals requested
Last year, members of The Rotary Club of Rochester sponsored two Tuesday evening meals for the mothers and children participating in the Jeremiah Program. Carissa Frandup, Jeremiah Volunteer Coordinator, reached out to fellow Rotarian Marilyn Deling, requesting volunteers for meals in March. If you would like to make a contribution to help fund these meals, please contact Marilyn Deling directly via email at humming73@gmail.com. The cost for one meal for the 40-50 families in the program is approximately $500.
Rotary Peace Fellowships Now Open
Rotary Peace Fellowships applications are now open.  Please consider who might be a good candidate for graduate studies or certificate in peace studies.

Click here and forward the electronic application to potential candidates. Applicants have until May 15 to submit their applications with District 5960 as their endorsing district. The Rotary Peace Fellowship Committee will interview candidates and, if qualified, endorse them for consideration by Rotary Peace Centers and the universities they select to attend.   Please note that the candidate needs to open the application to register it with Rotary Peace Centers, and then save it.  They can return to work on it any time until May 15.

The application page is self-explanatory, and mentors can follow through by checking the graduate program or the certificate program for the relevant eligibility requirements.
