This is the weekly gathering of The Rotary Club of Rochester. Rotarians and guests will begin gathering at 5:30 pm. The purpose of the gatherings is to socialize and network. Those planning to attend MUST REGISTER for one of the locations listed below. In an effort to follow CDC guidelines, masks are encouraged to be worn when attendees are not eating or drinking. The Aldis Home - Join President Colin at his home for this social gathering. There is a shelter at this location in case of rain. Attendees are asked to provide their own food and/or beverage if desired. Centerstone Plaza Hotel/Twigs Tavern Bar & Grille - Rotarians and guests will gather in the Magnolia Room which is just past the front desk. Attendees are welcome to pick up food and/or beverages at Twigs by ordering in person for carry-out or ordering online and stopping in for pick-up upon arrival. The Moertel Garden - The garden focuses on perennials and has over 250 identified varieties of Hosta. You will find a large Koi pond and a natural pondless fountain. The area has many turkey, deer, song birds and other friends to enjoy all year round. There is a shelter at this location in case of rain. Attendees are asked to provide their own food and/or beverage if desired. Rotary After Hours via Zoom - Hosted by Rotary Administrative Director Elizabeth Karsell, Rotarians and guests who are not comfortable attending an in-person gathering may join the Zoom call and socialize online. Grab your favorite food and/or beverage and join your fellow Rotarians! An email invitation will be sent to those who register. |

First time volunteers are asked to be sure to arrive promptly at 11:15 am for a brief orientation. Food will be served to 75-85 clients between 11:30 am - 12:30 pm. Program: "Tribal Sovereignty - Tribes Inherent Authority to Govern Themselves" presented by Rebecca Crooks - Stratton, Secretary/Treasurer at Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community (SMSC). Crooks-Stratton will explore the importance of sovereignty and walk attendees through 200 years of federal Indian policy and how it has impacted tribal nations. She will also cover economic development in Native American communities and provide present-day examples of how tribes like the SMSC work alongside federal, state and local governments on shared priorities. |

Join Rotarians, friends, and family for outdoor, community service October 5 and/or October 7, 4-6 pm at Bear Creek Park Shelter Area (1237 Marion Rd SE). . If you can't arrive at 4 pm, join us when you can! Sign up here to volunteer. Volunteers are encouraged to come prepared for mud with appropriate boots/shoes and garden gloves. In response to COVID-19 guidelines, volunteers are asked to plan for social distancing and are requested to wear masks. If you need a beverage or snack while planting, please pack your own. During the 2017-18 Rotary year, (then) RI President Ian Riseley set a goal for clubs to focus on the environment. The challenge worldwide was for each club to plant a tree for each Rotarian. The three Rochester Rotary Clubs decided to embark on a joint project to plant 300+ trees in the Rochester area and partnered with RNeighbors in cooperation with the Forester and citizen foresters. The goal was met, and the fun continues in 2020! |

"The Curling Club of Rochester is a 501(c)3 social and athletic club that has been bringing the Olympic sport of Curling to Rochester since 2017. The Clubs nearly 120 members curl at the North Rink of the Rochester Rec Center, as well as on outdoor ice at Little Thistle Brewing during winter months. The Club is seeking to build a dedicated ice facility that will allow the club to grow significantly and add even more to the culture of Rochester. The club estimates well over 1,000 people have been on the ice in the last two years despite the very limited available ice time." |

It will then move to a series of concrete steps leaders can take to build anti-racist culture in their organizations. These include understanding people’s needs and motivations, leading on meaning-making for equity and anti-racism, paying close attention to language and labels, instilling democratic processes and open discussion, distributing leadership, establishing low-risk climates for professional learning, and protecting and reinforcing core shared values and commitments. |

Many times, we are the nonprofit with the largest number of volunteer hours for this activity. "When you volunteer to bell ring, you help improve, and even save lives. The money dropped in a red kettle goes right back into your local community. By now you’ve likely heard that two hours of your time at a Salvation Army red kettle raises about $60 in donations." The November 19 Midday Meeting will be held on Zoom. There is no in-person meeting on November 19. |
