Child Saving Institute (CSI) focuses on the prevention, intervention, and treatment of child abuse, neglect, and trauma. With 14 programs and services, CSI serves children and youth from age 0-24 in the Omaha metro area. Programs include Therapy, Foster Care, the Triage Center at Project Harmony, Emergency Shelter, Permanency Services, Early Childhood Education, Pediatric Social Work, KidSquad, School and Family Enrichment (SAFE), Parenting Support & Workshops, Pregnancy Counseling, Independent Living Skills, In-Home Services, and more.
At our weekly meetings, there is always a lot of different activity happening. Setting up the technology, making our guests feel welcomed, asking good questions of our speakers, and participating in engaging table talk are just a few.
As someone who is somewhat technical, I got a real appreciation for what it takes to make sure the technology is set up to have a successful zoom call for our club. Thanks to Adam and Yolanda who walked me through it and helped me to become a little bit more tech savvy. I also have to say THANKS to Nash Mahupete who comfortably stepped back into the role of secretary in Lisa’s absence. For all of the Rotarians who stepped up this week to assist, I see you and appreciate you!
We had another great speaker visit our club. All the questions people have been wondering about regarding what is currently happening in the housing market were answered by Megan Bengtson, President of the Board of Realtors. The link to her presentation can be found here.
Let us not forget, October 24 is World Polio Day. Rotary has been working to eradicate polio for more than 35 years. The goal of ridding the world of this disease is closer than ever. I would ask if you have a minute to go out to the Rotary website and read more about efforts in this area.

Club member, past President, and past District Governor Gary Bren made a commitment late last year to ride in the 2021 Ride to End Polio that is part of the Tour de Tucson on November 20th. He’ll be riding 102.6 miles in support of Polio Eradication. Here is the ride he’ll be doing. He committed to doing this ride because he believes that it’s never been more important for us to focus on finishing Rotary’s battle to end Polio. This is a critical time, as there have only been two cases of wild Polio virus this year. It’s easy for everyone to relax and step back because of that…but in reality, now is the time we have to double our focus.
