President's Pen

Rotarians,

Hard to believe it is almost October and 3 months of our club year is behind us. We are so fortunate to be able to be in the same room together again which makes Wednesday one of my favorite days of the week. We have continued to have good participation at our meetings both in-person and virtually.

At this week’s meeting, we experienced BITCOIN 101 and information about the Nebraska Fund Innovation Act.  Our speaker, Atty. Matt McKeever, Partner at Burnett Wilson Law mystified us (or at least me) with the wonderful world of BITCOIN – what it is, how it is used, pros and cons, and much more. BITCOIN has been around since 2009 when it was created on the heels of the economic recession. It was created to be an electronic peer-to-peer cash system but has also attracted crypto-curious investors as a store-of-value currency, comparable to gold.  The link to his presentation can be found here. If you were not able to attend the meeting, I would highly encourage you to review it.

There are so many things going on within our club. To name a few, we have  –

Rotarians who are committed and care by sharing their time, treasures, and talents.
Outstanding Weekly Programs on interesting topics
Technology via the Owl and Clubrunner to keep us connected
Amazing volunteer opportunities
Recognition events to celebrate and ensure members know we appreciate their efforts
Year long fun!!!

The Omaha Downtown Rotary is what it is because of all of you. You make it a special place wherever and whenever we gather as members.

Thanks for all you do to keep the Rotary spirit alive.

See you on Wednesday!

Aileen Warren
