President's Pen

Rotarians,

How fortunate we are to have so many veterans who are members of our club. Individuals who put their lives on the line to protect us and our freedoms. We salute you and appreciate you!

The attached picture features a few of our fellow Rotarians who are military heroes.

L to R: Jim Murphy, Hal Daub, Okley Gibbs, Paul Cohen, Cliff McEvoy, Rick Waxman, & Jim Scott-Miller

Speaking of heroes, our speaker last week shared information on a program that provides a variety of support to injured heroes and their families. The Wounded Warrior Project https://www.wwfs.org/ does outstanding work not only in Nebraska but across the US. Liz Mayfield, Case Manager, of Wounded Warriors Family Support (WWFS) provided her insights into being a service provider as well as a caregiver. She did a wonderful job explaining the services offered by WWFS and shared with me she typically does not do public speaking but did not feel as nervous due to the welcoming Rotarian environment. So, club members, I thank you for that.

Friendly reminder to make a donation to the Club’s service fund. We receive a variety of requests for funding of projects and our service fund helps support those requests.

Finally, as part of Rotary’s commitment to provide you with the best membership experience possible, Rotary International invited members to participate in the 2021 Rotary All-Member Survey. Your responses will help them learn what you like about being a Rotary member and how RI can make your membership experience even better. Please take the time to complete the survey as your feedback is needed.

See you on Wednesday!
