Barbara recently retired as president of the Lincoln Community Foundation after serving for twelve years. She has nearly 50 years of experience in fundraising, program development, public engagement and teaching. Prior to coming to the Lincoln Community Foundation, Barbara was president of the Foundation for Lincoln Public Schools for 18 years.
She currently is on the Chancellor’s Board of Counselors for the University of Nebraska Medical Center, the Lied Center for Performing Arts Statewide Advisory Board and has served on numerous nonprofit boards in Lincoln.
Barbara was a College Board education ambassador to China. She is a recipient of the Spirit of United Way award, named Woman of the Year for the Lincoln Journal Star Inspire Award and inducted into the Hall of Fame for the Association of Fundraising Professionals, Nebraska Chapter.
She is past president of Lincoln Rotary Club 14 and Lincoln Rotary 14 Foundation. Barbara was selected to be Team Leader for Rotary International Group Study Exchange to India.
Barb is a multiple Paul Harris Fellow and is currently a member of the Paul Harris Society of The Rotary International Foundation.
Her favorite time is spent with husband, Bob, and their three children and families—just ask her about her seven grandchildren.
Recently, James Mackiewicz introduced our newest Rotarian, Mike Schlickbernd. Schlick Construction was founded in 2004 by Mike Schlickbernd. Mike grew up in West Point, Nebraska. From a young age, his father, a general contractor, taught him the construction trade. Mike studied Business with an emphasis on Construction Management at Wayne State College. After graduation, he moved to Omaha, where he currently resides. Mike possesses a wealth of knowledge in all construction areas, emphasising residential remodelling - from flooring to roofing and everything in between. Mike and his wife Jeri are the owners of Dreamvesting Capital, an investment fund specialising in generating passive income and long-term capital appreciation through real estate investments.

Downtown Rotary is helping the Food Bank of the Heartland with a food drive on 11/30! Pick up some groceries, put them in your trunk, drive through the Field Club entrance on 11/30, pop your trunk and let us take it from there! With one in 10 people across the Heartland and one in seven children struggling with food insecurity, this is especially important with children staying home from school so much more over the upcoming holiday breaks! Recently, Operation Hippocrates Chair LeRoy Swedlund, on behalf of the Board of Trustees of The Rotary International Foundation, recognized our dedicated medical team led by Dr. Jeff Delaney as Paul Harris Fellow. Nurse Jenny Van Winkle and ultrasound sonographer Mora Link were also recognized as Paul Harris Fellows. The Paul Harris Fellow recognition acknowledges individuals who contribute, or who have contributions made in their name, of $1,000 to The Rotary Foundation. The recognition of the Operation Hippocrates team as Paul Harris Fellows was made possible through the donations made by Past President Bill Harvey, Endowment/Major Gift Advisor to Rotary International.

The Omaha Downtown Rotary partners with Stephens Center in serving hot meals to its residents.
