Topic: Ag Supply Chain Industry Trends and Disruptions & How Scoular handles the Challenge
Some lessons can only come with time and experience. Through an early career as a commodities trader, I learned to see business from end to end, understand how to weigh risks and trade-offs against opportunities, and how to make decisions in the service of a greater good. Seeing potential possibilities enables one to achieve something previously unimagined. I believe leadership is something you genuinely must desire, it’s not something you just “do.”
As Chief Executive Officer of Scoular, I am responsible for Scoular’s worldwide strategic leadership, a role I have held since joining the company in 2016. An over 128-year old employee-owned company with more than $6 billion in sales, Scoular is committed to creating safe and reliable supply chain solutions for feed and food customers around the world. Recently, Past President Todd Murphy introduced our newest Rotarian Franco Gentile. Franco is Vice President & General Manager of Sinclair Broadcast Group’s KPTM FOX42 and CW Omaha, with oversight of Sinclair’s provision of services to KXVO-TV. Now in his 19th year with Sinclair, this August marks Franco’s first anniversary since moving to Omaha to lead Sinclair’s linear television and digital platforms. KPTM FOX42 and CW Omaha are mostly notably known for FOX42 News at Nine, www.FOX42KPTM.com, Omaha’s local home of Nebraska Football on FOX Sports, and Thursday Night Lights High School Football on CW Omaha. Franco has held leadership and sales positions within Sinclair across the country in Baltimore, Maryland, Tampa, Florida and Columbus, Ohio.
Franco is on the Board of the Nebraska Broadcasters Association and a member of the Knights of Columbus #11208. He earned his MBA from the University of Maryland’s Robert H. Smith School of Business and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Towson University. With his wife Erin, they have four and half year-old twin daughters, Adrianna and Gabriella along with their chocolate lab, Canton. Together, they live in Elkhorn and attend St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.

The 9/11 Tribute of Flags Omaha will be on display to commemorate the anniversary of the attacks on September 11, 2001
On Friday, September 2, from 4:30 – 7:00 PM, the Rotary Club of Omaha will once again set up the 9/11Tribute of Flags Omaha in Memorial Park.
Each year, Boy Scouts and other volunteers join Rotarians to honor the lives of those lost on September 11, 2001. Almost 3,000 U.S. flags make up the display. The attacks on September 11, 2001, killed 2,977 people. Each flag bears the name and age of a victim, the location of where they died and personal information. The flags of those who have a Nebraska connection will be placed in a special section.
Lynn Castrianno originally organized this tradition as a way to honor of her brother, Leonard Castrianno, who was killed in the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001, and as a way to honor all of the lives lost on this tragic day. This is the 18th consecutive year of the tribute.
The flags will be on display until Monday, September 12.
Invitation from Glenwood Rotary: the Glenwood Rotary Club we will be hosting the Culpepper and Merriweather Circus on Saturday, Sept 3, (Labor Day weekend) with two performances at 2 and 4:30 p.m., in Glenwood Lake Park, just to the east of the downtown square and across from the High School parking lot. Advance tickets are available from Glenwood Rotary for just $7 (children and seniors over 65) and $12 for everyone else. Kids under 2 are free. Come out and see the big top raised, famous animal acts and aerialists and all the other fun things a Circus brings to any small town. Glenwood Rotary President Dennis Kelly will be at Rotary this Wednesday to sell the discounted tickets. The Whirl Editor is going to watch the circus as she has never been to a circus.

The Omaha Downtown Rotary partners with Stephens Center in serving hot meals to its residents.
