College World Series Committee
Leroy Swedlund and Jim Stewart (Committee Chair and Co-Chair) are the club’s primary contacts with College World Series, Inc.
Sixty-four NCAA teams compete in the National Championship Tournament. Our club hosts one of eight Super-Regional champions who will come to Omaha to play in the College World Series. We will know which region our team will come out of prior to the start of the tournament, but will not know who our actual team is until the weekend prior to the CWS.
The Series will begin this year on Saturday, June 17.
Last year Rotary hosted the TCU Horned Frogs. Other schools we have hosted include Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Cal State Fullerton, Florida, Florida State, Miami, Nebraska, North Carolina, Oregon State, Rice, Texas, Vanderbilt and UCLA. We were fortunate to host the National Champion Team for three consecutive years, 2000 (LSU), 2001 (Miami) & 2002 (Texas). We also hosted the 2012 National Champion, Arizona.
The Primary Role of the CWS Committee Member is to Sell General Admission Ticket Books.

As one of our Club Service Projects, our club both helps plant the flags and remove the flags that each year has commemorated the people who perished in the 9/11 bombings. We can use your help on Wednesday, September 6 to set up the flags. We plan on starting at about 5:00 PM. Family and friends are welcome. If you are a new member, this counts as a Community Service Project. It is also worth attendance credit. If you have a "Rotarian at Work" shirt or a Omaha Rotary logo shirt, please wear it. If you'd like to order a "Rotarian at Work" shirt, please contact the office for details. |

Please join us for Business Networking Day. Locations include: #1 Business Networking Location Company: Harriman Dispatch Center Address: 850 Jones Street, Omaha #2 Business Networking Location Company: Dundee Bank
#3 Business Networking Location Company: Mastercraft Building Built in 1925 and used for decades as a furniture factory, today, the Mastercraft is a budding creative center that is drawing companies from industries like design, architecture, information technology and photography. With ample parking and a close proximity to TD Ameritrade Park, new hotels and the city’s riverwalk, The Mastercraft building is a destination in downtown Omaha. Its high ceilings, clerestory windows, and rough sawn lumber joists give it a unique feel that feeds unmistakable creative energy. Bob Grinnell bought the building at auction in 2003 after it had sat empty for two years. It was a target for looters and vandals. He now sees his job as safeguarding the integrity of the building while renovating with high standards. Address: 1111 North 13th Street - GO TO DOOR #4 Come back to the link below to pre-pay for Dundee Bank or Harriman Dispatch after you have registered. |
