The PROP Shop is an exciting resale store and nonprofit serving the southwest suburbs of Minneapolis. The store is full of quality clothing, household items, and furniture for sale to the general public. The PROP Shop is primarily staffed by over 350 enthusiastic and helpful volunteers, including members of the Eden Prairie Noon Rotary.

The PROP Shop’s priority is helping families in need through volunteers and community. Community members donate gently used clothing, household goods, and furniture that are then either sold in the resale store or given directly to families in need. Everyone is welcome to shop and proceeds from the resale store are used to pay expenses. Excess funds are used to buy needed items like socks and underwear for families in need and are also donated to local organizations helping low income families like PROP (People Reaching Out to Other People, the local food shelf and emergency services provider) and Meals on Wheels. Free clothing, household items, and furniture are available to families in need by referral through human services organizations.

The PROP Shop recently completed a 2500 sq ft expansion with the help of more than a dozen local businesses and community organizations. Club members donated numerous hours of labor to renovate the interior.
PROP is a non-profit, multi-service organization serving children, families, individuals and senior citizens that reside in Eden Prairie and Chanhassen. PROP uses a strength-based approach to service delivery to assist our neighbors in regaining independence. Since PROP began in 1971, its mission is supported by 110 weekly volunteers and generous contributions from local businesses, civic organizations, faith communities, schools, and individuals.
STRIVE
STRIVE is a long standing Eden Prairie High School mentoring and scholarship program provided for the benefit of qualifying students interested in adult support and academic improvement. This project is a cooperative effort with Eden Prairie High School and the Eden Prairie Morning Rotary Club.

Several members of our club have a one-on-one relationships with their STRIVE students and have served as mentors for many years.

Let's Go Fishing!
The Eden Prairie Chapter of Let’s Go Fishing was created to enrich the lives of seniors age 55 and older by providing free fishing & boating excursions that strengthen communities, build relationships and create memories.  Our Club provides financial and volunteer support to this great organization.
Eden Prairie Community Center Sculpture
Our club provided a donation of time and money to the City of Eden Prairie for the “Soaring Bird: Peace through Service” sculpture which was completed in 2013.  The Eden Prairie Noon Rotary supported the Eden Prairie Morning Rotary Club on this project.

The piece was designed by Eden Prairie resident and sculptor Jim Gabbert. The plaque that accompanies the sculpture says it is a symbol of the Rotary's dedication to promote peace.

For more information on the sculpture and the sculptor, see Jim Gabbert's website.
Feed My Starving Children
Feed My Starving Children is a non-profit Christian organization committed to feeding God’s children hungry in body and spirit. The approach is simple: children and adults hand-pack meals specifically formulated for malnourished children, and we ship these meals to nearly 70 countries around the world.

Eden Prairie Noon Rotary members volunteer several times a year to pack meals for relief efforts around the world.  It is fun, collaborative and rewarding group experience.  Join us next time for this worthwhile effort.

Warm Heads, Warm Hands, Warm Hearts
Warm Heads, Warm Hands, Warm Hearts is our chance to provide hats, mittens and gloves to members of our own community.  By partnering with other Rotarians in the District, we can buy hundreds, thousands of hats and gloves at very low cost, and distribute them to needy individuals in Eden Prairie.  This program was started by one Rotarian who saw a need in his community, and now it has spread throughout central Minnesota.  Over the past several years, Eden Prairie Noon Rotary has shared the warmth by handing out over 2,000 hats, gloves and mittens.
Valley View Road Cleanup
Every Spring and Fall, members of EP Noon Rotary spend an hour or two walking along Valley View Road picking up litter and trash.  What a great event to provide a community service by cleaning up a portion of Valley View Road, while getting some fresh air, and walking and talking with other Rotarian friends.  Watch for dates on the calendar, and join us!
