Pam Sandlian Smith is the Director of Anythink Libraries in Adams County, Colorado, just north of Denver. Through her leadership, the public library system went from being the worst funded system in the state of Colorado to one of the most recognized library brands nationwide by creating an entirely new service model. Anythink was awarded the 2010 National Medal for Museum and Library Service, the 2011 John Cotton Dana Award for Outstanding Public Relations, and the Library Journal 2011 Landmark Libraries award. Pam was the 2010 Colorado Librarian of the Year and the recipient of the 2012 Charlie Robinson Award for innovation and risk taking. She has also been honored for her work in library technology innovation and early literacy projects. Through her speaking and writing, Sandlian Smith stimulates discussions on innovation, creativity and participation in libraries worldwide. She is the 2017-18 President of the Public Library Association and is a member of the working group for the Aspen Institute Dialogue on Public Libraries. She enjoys traveling, writing, cooking for friends and family, telling stories and inventing libraries that support learning and curiosity.

Michael Stelling has been an educator for 24 years. He entered the field of education as a middle school social studies teacher in Las Vegas, Nevada. After earning his masters degree in school counseling he moved to Colorado. He has had the pleasure of counseling at Nothglenn High School for the past 14 years. This past spring Michael was asked to participate on the Colorado Education Leadership Council. The goal of the council is to provide our future governor and law makers with a blue print and a vision for the future of our education system. |

Subject: Fastest Rotary Club in District 5450 Fellow Rotarian, The Arvada Sunrise Rotary (ASR) Club is looking for the fastest Rotary Club in District 5450. ASR will have its second annual Race 4 Rotary on Sunday, August 26, 2018. Each Rotary club in the District is invited to participate in this fun, fast-fast moving and exciting event at Unser Karting at US 36 and I-25 (www.unserkarting.com). A traveling trophy, which is currently held by The Rotary Club of Northglenn-Thornton, will be awarded to the club that is determined to be the 2018 Fastest in the District! Also, first, second and third place plaques will be awarded to individuals based on fastest laps. The event includes a street taco buffet. In addition to the kart racing there is ping pong, pool and bowling. The cost is $75 for racers, $25 for spectators and a four pack of racers for $250. Lisle Reed, Whole Child Initiatives Coordinator, Adams 12 Five Star Schools Lisle is a U.S. Navy veteran who holds an M.Ed. from CSU in Educational Leadership, Renewal, and Change. Before taking her current position in the Five Star District, Lisle was a middle and high school teacher as well as a K-8 Assistant Principal in Mapleton Public Schools. Lisle currently leads the Office of Whole Child Initiatives, which includes: the Student and Family Outreach Program, Homeless Education, Health & Wellness Initiatives, and Restorative Practices. |
