This week, we will return to the Martin Center for the first time in over a year! We are super excited to be back in a permanent home, but as you can imagine, because the Martin Center deals primarily with folks in a higher age demographic, they are still proceeding with caution when it comes to hosting outside groups. We will need to continue, at least for the time being, with our boxed lunch set-up and will also need to stay entirely within the multipurpose room except when members need to use the bathroom facilities. The Martin Center does specifically require that if you are not fully vaccinated against COVID19, you remain masked at all times except when actively eating or drinking and remain socially distant. I will send out a separate email with the full details of their COVID policies later today.
This week is our annual Scholarship Awards Program – YAY! Join us Friday as Jim Ryan and Charles Grummon introduce us to this year’s incredibly deserving recipients and catch us up on what some of our past recipients have been doing!
Also… Apparently, Chief Jeff Hughes’ generosity knows no bounds!! He has designated Tuesday, June 8th at 4:00 pm to be a “Make-Up Tour” opportunity. At that time, he will provide a second opportunity at a VIP tour of the new Policy HQ facility to all club members who did not get to tour it at our meeting two weeks ago….honestly, I enjoyed it so much the first time around, I may just try to sneak into this one too! J
Last but certainly not least – Please keep our own Sarah Johnson in your thoughts and prayers this week as she recovers from abdominal surgery. I talked to Sarah Tuesday night before her Wednesday surgery and she was in very good spirits, but certainly does covet our prayers for her surgery and recovery. We look forward to seeing you back at the meetings soon, Sarah!

2020 Rotary Golf Classic - A Success!

2020 Rotary Golf Classic

Declared a Success!

On September 21, 124 golfers gathered on a beautiful sun splashed day at the Brentwood Country Club to compete in the 4th annual Rotary Golf Classic. Assisted by 17 Rotary Club members working the event under the leadership of Suzie Lindsey, everyone had a fun day and the tournament was a financial success for the club’s foundation. For the 3rd year, LBMC was our presenting Sponsor and their contribution makes the tournament work, they’ve been a great partner for us.

In a year with many unknowns, the club members were able to sell 176 sponsorships which totaled in excess of $ 115,000. After expenses for the tournament, the BRCCF saw a net profit of $ 82,000 which will be used to fund Grants to local and other organizations around the world. Our Funding Partners this year, Graceworks Ministries, Saddle Up!, and BrightStone will each receive a generous donation for their ongoing, good work in our community.

With Michael Kaplan leading his Sales Team with personal sales of $ 10,550 (14 Sponsors), the Kaplan Team set a new Team Sales record of $ 18,330! Congratulations to Michael and his team for a sensational effort. Jennifer Bourne’s team finished 2nd, but also eclipsed the prior team sales record with sales of $ 12,700 – great job Bourne Team!!

We look forward to next year with new ideas and plans knowing that this event has yet to reach it true potential as a fund raiser for our club. Come be a part next year and join the fun!
