Elaine and Chris Whitney
One Generation Away

Chris and Elaine Whitney moved to Franklin TN in 2004, to start a church and little did they know that in that process of pastoring a church for 14 years that One Generation Away would be birthed.

One Generation Away is a non profit 501c3 food ministry with their passion being to wipe hunger off the face of America by eliminating racism, denominationalism and poverty, and teaching  people to love one another through service.

They have a passion to see churches and organizations come together to serve our neighbors in need.

One Generation Away was established in 2011, started out in the back of their car, and the first year distributed 20,000 pounds of food. It has now grown to serving over 4.3 million meals to those in need all over Middle TN and also in 3 states with disaster relief.

In addition to distributing truck loads of food, they also rescue food from local grocery stores and restaurants such as Whole Foods, Fresh Market, Costco, Olive Garden, Outback Steak House, Carrabba’s  and Bone Fish grill just to name a few, and distribute this all over Middle Tennessee to different homeless shelters, and agencies and even neighborhoods to help feed those in need, no questions asked if anyone is hungry we will give them food.

Through the ministry of One Generation Away, this has lead to many opportunities to help our city, Chris is now a Chaplain of the Franklin Police Department. We also help Juvenile Justice System with food along with assisting all the Williamson County schools and now Metro schools with a 30lb emergency box of food for those children that are food insecure and their families.

Chris and Elaine have been married for 36 years and they have 3 daughters and now 6 grandchildren.

They have a very strong marriage and have worked side by side growing the food ministry and are excited to see this model replicate across the United States.
