I hope that all of you are well and have had ample opportunity to enjoy this beautiful weather which we have been having this year. I cannot blame you for forsaking a summertime lunch meeting in favor of partaking in something that we don’t always have the benefit of doing, such as having fun in the warmth of the sun (or just being “summertime” busy). However, I would like to invite you all, in advance, to attend the lunch meeting in August 17. This meeting will be our annual visit by the District Governor and while I don’t care much for politicking or glad-handing, I am very proud of our club and would welcome the chance for the DG to meet some of our awesome club members, ALL of you being those awesome club members! Please attend if you can and bring any questions or comments you may have for the DG.
I suppose that is about all I can muster this week except to remind you that you are all wonderful human beings if for no other reason than you take time away from your own personal lives to try and make the lives of others better! I know that many of you do so much more for our community and our world other than being Rotarians and I applaud you all for your giving and kindness through Rotary and more.
Okay, sorry, that made me think of something else to say. My body was creaking and complaining when I got out of bed this morning, once again to be blamed on Carrie for forcing me to slog along with her while she runs every other day, but it made me realize that all things have a shelf life, especially us humans. To this end, we need to ensure that we have smart, capable and willing human beings to replace us in everything that we do (just the good stuff), so, I am asking you to think about one person whom you can bring into the folds of Rotary and keep the good moving forward. Once you have thought of that person, go and convince them to become a member!
One last thing. Remember to bring your loose change or extra hundred dollar bills for the “blue cups” that will be on your tables so that we can make our extra Foundation giving goals and finance all of these new Rotary members which you will be recruiting. However, if you have no loose change or hundred dollar bills, please do not let that stop you from attending our meetings.
