President's Message
Hola,

Last Saturday, I attended the district assembly in Saint-George, Quebec.  Four Rotary Club Presidents rode together. On our way to Quebec, we had a chance to talk about each of our clubs’ progress, goals, and challenges, but most importantly, we supported each other and exchanged ideas that would be beneficial to all of our clubs. It was a smooth ride, and we even had time to stop and enjoy the beautiful foliage up north.

I have to say that I really enjoy going to the assembly. You are always meeting new people and making the connections while finding ways to lead your club in a better way. The assembly is an opportunity for all clubs to learn more about all aspects of Rotary at the district level. We obtained information about our finances, how we can improve our Public Image, and new this year an emphasis on webinars or Zoom (online classes) for membership and Foundation with district grants and secretary training. Our District Governor and all the people behind her are doing an excellent job keeping District 7790 as strong as ever with its cultural diversity and fellowship as well as the involvement of the members of the club’s district.

Thanks to Rotarian Dean Read for all his efforts organizing the 28th annual Cadillac Mountain Challenge, and to all the Rotarians who volunteered to help with this awesome event! Riders had the opportunity to cycle through some of the most spectacular fall foliage scenery that MDI has to offer, including mountains, the Atlantic Ocean, Somes Sound, lakes, forests, wetlands, harbor towns, abundant wildlife, and much more.

UPCOMING EVENTS:
1.)    World Polio Day/Purple Pinkie Project on Thursday, October 24th at three different locations:
•    Sherman’s Bookstore from 1-7 pm
•    Spruce and Gussy from 1-6 pm
•    Pat’s Pizza from 4-7 pm
I hope all members of the club can participate in this event. I would like to thank all the volunteers who are giving some of their time to raise awareness for the eradication of Polio. We have posted the Polio event on Facebook, and if you want to share it on your page, please do so; in that way, more people in our community can learn about it. Also, it would be nice if some members can meet that day at Pat’s for dinner and an impromptu gathering, while having both fun and raising awareness for Polio.
2.)    MDI Marathon Sunday, October 20th - Our club will have a fluid station at Mile 18. We will be cheering on all the runners and giving them refreshments. In the past, members have dressed up as super heroes to make it more interesting and fun, but it is not required. So if you want to join us, please come along; you won’t be punished for not dressing up!
3.)    We will need volunteers for the Bed Races in November and the Holiday Party in December. I will make announcements about these two events in the upcoming meetings.

See you soon,
