Hello Bar Harbor Rotarians,
This is my first message to you as your new president. Sorry I won’t be able to join you again this week, but Debby and I are traveling in Europe. We spent last week in Madrid, where they are in the middle of a heat wave, and the temperatures were over 100 degrees for much of the time. That didn’t keep us from enjoying the beautiful city, particularly the parks, plazas and air-conditioned museum. This week we are in Copenhagen, where the temps are much more to our liking, in the high 60’s. This is also a very beautiful place, and so much different from Spain! Here's a picture of us taken Sunday in Copenhagen.
I hope you have all recuperated from July 4th. Ron shared our financial success, but even more importantly, pulling this off means we are back to being Rotary, doing service for the community, and working together. This event was an important sign of vitality in our club. I hope we can build from there and continue to re-engage members by having a picnic for our August evening meeting on Wednesday, August 3. If you can help organize that event, please let me know.
This week, the esteemed Jim Mroch will be leading our meeting in my place, where you will hear a presentation from the Executive Director of the Seal Cove Auto Museum, Ethan Yankura. Thank you Barbara Fox for arranging our speaker. I hope many of you can make it. I will be back for the meeting on July 27th, though I can’t guarantee I won’t still be jet-lagged!
See you soon.
Scott Hammond
President (1) 2022-2023
