I hope you’ll join us on Wednesday at noon at the Atlantic Oceanside. This week, Lila Miller, Development Director of the Jesup Library, will give us an update on their capital campaign. If you aren’t aware of all of the great plans for the library, this is an opportunity to learn and to meet Lila, who grew up here and graduated from MDI High School.
We had our September board meeting during last week’s evening meeting at Pat’s Pizza. I’m including some highlights here:
I visited with Don Allen recently, who is currently living in an assisted living apartment at Birch Bay, Pleasant Cove, Rm 224. He is doing much better and ready to have visitors.
Ron provided a report of our finances. The major item on our P&L is the Seafood Festival, which had income of $47,700 and expenses of $22,200, giving us a profit of approximately $25,000. On the Balance Sheet, we have a checking account balance of $80,000, with $47,700 of unallocated donations. A successful event and now we need to do some work to start giving it away.
Happy/Sad dollars and fines for September through November will be donated to Camp CaPella in Dedham. Camp CaPella is a lakefront summer camp in Dedham, Maine that provides diverse recreational and educational opportunities for individuals with disabilities. Camp CaPella is for campers regardless of ability, to be afforded an opportunity to enjoy a summer program.
We were joined by Charley Dickey, a summer resident from Northeast Harbor and friend from Seattle Rotary, and he provided us an update on Malaria Partners International.
