Hello fellow Rotarians,

 

I hope you had a wonderful Labor Day weekend! 

 

Please mark your calendar for our next two meetings, when we will be joined by the Executive Director of the Maine Arts Commission (09/16) and our 2020-2021 District Governor (09/23). Both meetings will be via Zoom.

 

The Maine Arts Commission (https://mainearts.maine.gov/ ) is a state agency whose mission is to “encourage and stimulate public interest and participation in the cultural heritage and cultural programs of our state; shall expand the state's cultural resources; and shall encourage and assist freedom of artistic expression for the well-being of the arts, to meet the needs and aspirations of persons in all parts of the state.”    

 

Julie Richards will take us on a journey through Maine via its arts and crafts. She serves as the Maine Arts Commission’s executive director and played a crucial role in the formation of ArtsEngageME. Julie also currently serves on the boards of the New England Foundation for the Arts, the Cultural Affairs Council, the Maine Bicentennial Commission, the Maine Downtown Center, Snow Pond Arts Academy, and The Friends of the Blaine House.

 

 

Following Julie’s visit, and that of DG Joel Philibert, we will hold a general membership assembly to discuss plans for a return to in person meetings, and to share ideas for work within our community. This will be held on Wednesday, September 30th. I hope many of you will attend. As we navigate this unprecedented situation, it is important to come together to have this discussion, so we are aware and respectful of our fellow Rotarians concerns while remaining active in our collective mission to service over self. I look forward to hearing from all of you during thIs upcoming facilitated dialogue! In the meantime, please don’t ever hesitate to reach out to me personally.
