Remote Meetings
Bar Harbor, ME United States of America
Due to the pandemic, we are currently meeting via Zoom. Join us on Wednesdays at Noon, except for the first Wednesday of the month when we meet at 5:00 pm (check Facebook or the speakers list on this page for the topics presented).
Can you believe another Rotary year has passed? This is my last opportunity to write to you as President.
I am very grateful to my wonderful, dedicated Board and all the members of the club who helped to carry us through an unprecedented year. While I learned a great deal about Rotary and our club and value the fact you allowed me to act as your president for a year, I am looking forward to being a past president and concentrating on some of my Rotary passions. Lisa, thank you for taking the reins. You will do a great job!
I hope to see many of you this week. On Wednesday, June 30th at Noon we will be joined by Marla O'Byrne from the Island Housing Trust. Please watch your email for Zoom details! Island Housing Trust (IHT) promotes viable, year-round island communities by advancing permanent workforce housing on Mount Desert Island, Maine.
Island Housing Trust was founded in 1989 as the Mount Desert Development Trust, based in the Town of Mount Desert. Later renamed the Mount Desert Community Trust, the organization completed one workforce housing project in 1994 through a 99-year lease on a town-owned piece of land off Route 198 in Mount Desert, and then was inactive for several years. In 2003, following the second MDI Tomorrow initiative, the Mount Desert Community Trust’s Board of Directors was reconstituted, and the organization’s mission expanded to include all four towns on MDI. In 2005, the organization’s name was changed to Island Housing Trust to reflect that expanded mission.
My final task will be to hand over the gavel, which will take place on Wednesday, July 7th at 5 p.m., at ArtWaves. More details to come soon!
Wishing you all a wonderful week,
Stefanie

Rotary has a remarkable record when it comes to health initiatives. Now the global pandemic has brought attention to another aspect of health that is often overlooked: mental health.
